I think people oversimplify Caitlyn’s actions in Zaun. Was using the gas morally good? No. But in the context of war, she believed she was dealing with a violent and organised threat that couldn’t be talked down.

People defend Jayce for what happened in the factory because they understand the pressure, and overall urgency behind his actions, yet refuse to extend that same nuance to Caitlyn.

Caitlyn saw the Chembarons as a danger not only to Piltover, but to Vi’s people as well. Her decisions came from fear, grief, and a desperation to end the conflict quickly, NOT random cruelty. Yes, her grief over her mother clouded her focus to mainly jinx, but she never stopped caring about unnecessary violence in zaun.

Overall, you can disagree with her methods while still understanding why she thought extreme action was necessary.

i think it's kind of weird (?) or interesting how dean and sam switch up when one of them dies or leaves. this has probably been said before but deans always filled with anger and aggression but every time sam dies or leaves, he mellows out. like he's suddenly so hurt and depressed and everything he's been building a wall around for years has crumbled beneath him and he's a mess. sam is typically a mess and he's faced with these constant doubts and insecurities and self hatred. just completely always moping around like he just got told the worst news of his life. when dean dies or when he's gone it's like sam turns angry, he doesn't think, he's irrational and goes in head first. i think it highlights their codependency and how well they balance each other out at the end of the day because they completely switch whenever one of them is gone. it's like they're both a vessel for them, a way to keep living. without it, they're barely scratching the surface at survival.

I also want to go on a rant about Adora and Hunter cause I saw an old pic on my old phone that said, “if you Stan Catra you automatically Stan Amity I don’t make the rules” (even though I already made a post of stop comparing these two especially as redemption arcs but that’s not the point of this…)

Cause Adora and Hunter seem to have more in common than people think like the denial of the side they’re fighting for being “bad” (it just takes longer for Hunter to figure it out) (and they both need the literal proof of it happening (ie the decimation of that one village done by the Horde in ep 1 of Shera and Hunter seeing all the other Clones and Philip trying to get rid of him as well) and they both are in this mindset of “there’s nothing worse than disappointing the people who think you’re special” cause Hunter and Adora do what they do cause A) Hunter is being manipulated by Belos by being told that “the Titan has great plans for you”, if he doesn’t question things then Belos wouldn’t act violently towards him, etc. and B) Adora believes that if she does A,B and C right then things would stop going wrong around her like Catra would stop being hurt by Shadow Weaver, Glimmer wouldn’t be hurt in S1, the Horde wouldn’t be Decimating them in S4, etc. etc.

Like this is just another thing that I’d probably go on for days about (and would probably make a more in depth post about if that is something people would read…)

Zombies Run VIP access

(very important purse) (sorry couldn’t help myself) There’s an uproar about the new VIP membership, so I had a big long think about the new pricing.  Its complicated, people pay now at different levels to access immediate downloads (Legacy $8/yr, Abel Runners club is I believe $27-35/year based on when you signed up?) So taking a step back  and looking at it from a 2019 players POV: Also leaving off taxes for simplicity.  2019, pricing: Abel Runners club: $35 + [1 race ($35) X2 ] = $105. The main complaints from the past two years from new members has been ‘wont you sell old races as digital only’ or ‘why cant I get the races at any time’ so they’ve DONE that, but they’ve made you have to pay for a years worth of new races up front.  Race packs are now separate from the races, and will be $20, but if you have VIP, you automatically get a 20% discount on the packet (4) times a year, so the pack is really $16 What we expected 2020 pricing: ZR VIP: $90 {ARC: $35 + [race ($27) X2} + [race pack ($16) X2] = $122 STS announced that there will be 3 races in 2020/2021, and that leads me to expect there will be 4 races in 2021/2021.  So that math works out to be 2020 pricing: ZR VIP: $90 {ARC: $35 + [race ($18.33) X3} + [race pack ($16) X3] = $138

2021 pricing???: ZR VIP: $90 {ARC: $35 + [race ($13.75) X4} + [race pack ($16) X4] = $154 The person who has abel runners club and buys each race pack isnt spending more money per pack, theyre being asked to support a third race.  If there are four races, the race themselves are even cheaper, but you spend more overall.  The user no longer owns the races bought after May 2020, but are leasing them. After a looong think about that, I have decided this is crap, but it doesn’t overly bother me.  The whole app is un-ownable unless you crack the software and extract the audio files, or if a cd collection were made available (yes, I would prob buy it!).  I certainly hope no one will crack Jack and Eugene’s World Tour race so and spread it illegally through the community *****WINK*****

Unfortunately, for anyone subscribed at legacy or original runners club price, this is a HUGE jump, and those players have been all but told by STS that this is the only way. Also, you can no longer gift races which seems a blow to community.   For new subscribers, this plan is amazing because you rent access to up to 10 older races.  I guess Im dividing this up to 2 posts? In my next one Im gonna think about the different kinds of Runner 5s and my speculation on the needs and wants of Six to Start.

When Canon Characters Become Spectacularly Uncanon-Like in AUs

Below is a version of an AO3 comment that I posted for GleefulpoppetAfterDark’s fic, Red Vertigo Canary , written for Kinktober. It’s a dark, volatile and very sexy Kurt/Blaine/Elliott (Glee) threesome AU that’s as far from canon as you’re likely to find. It made me think about how I respond to favorite canon characters cast in VERY uncanon-like roles.

@gleefulpoppet liked what I wrote, so with that encouragement, I’m offering a more generic version here. I think it applies to any fandom.

I’ve found that some readers seem to have a judgmental view of AUs that assign personalities and motivations to the characters that are far removed from how they're known in canon. Readers who are curious or intrigued (like me!) will always read them. There’s just a short list of kinks that will cause me personally to think “Nope. Moving on.” I describe it as a kind of disassociation from the characters while reading. Not in a bad way, but in my mind, these are not my beloved canon characters, but similar names appearing in an original work. It allows me to enjoy the fic without judging whether or not I like the canon characters used this way. It invites me to keep reading excellent writing by great authors, instead of scrolling by because of what’s in the tags.

sometimes people say these really simple things to be, and i don’t think they know how meaningful those remarks are. they’re so beyond simple. things said without a second thought not said to impress or be anything of massive value, just sort of said, and they’re so fucking beautiful because they show this genuine nature. this very genuine degree of change and compassion. very small mementos that they care now. that’s so fucking beautiful. i wish i had more words to describe that.
