And yup, I saw this whole TADC thing going downhill the Second Gooseworx said "Jax is as much of a protagonist as Pomni is" cuz idk Who she thought she was gaslighting with that nonsense
(This may contain spoilers cuz I'm gonna touch upon some of the things that I've merely heard about the finale so if you don't want anything spoiled then I'd suggest scrolling)
because up until ep 6, Jax was no more than a side character who'd spout a joke or just behave like an asshole to the other members (also, kinda telling that your supposed self insert is the one that's a misogynistic dick to everyone around him...). post ep 6 it was like Whiplash how fast the plot suddenly became centered around him and his story.
and I'm More than positive that Goose was wanting that "but he's so traumatized!" defense from fans like we've seen from people who like Jinx or ugh even Shauna Shitman (yeah I'm gonna ramble more about Her later). However, characters like that are given more leniency Because the shows they're in actually Explain their trauma's first and then Use that trauma to explain Why they behave that they do especially towards the people around them. with Jax it's just been "well he has trauma!" "what trauma?" "don't worry about it, it's just really bad trauma!" (which btw is not enough for a character like this, and no you don't get a "get out of jail free" card for explaining it for 60% of your Final episode. People aren't gonna watch ep 9 and be all "oh that explains his behavior all his past sins are forgiven!")
now personally, I haven't watched the leaks (hell i was even planning on buying a ticket but hey dodged a $30 bullet on that one. maybe I'll go watch Girls Like Girls instead...) but the gist of what I've heard its a mix of "it's mid", "it's dogshit", "the entire episode centers around explaining Jax and no one else"
and as someone who's not a huge fan of him (like yeah I don't turn red faced and have steam whistling out of my ears whenever he shows up, but i still don't like him) I'd still be largely disappointed by this ending.
not to mention I heard Caine comes back in the first 10 minutes?! you can't even properly commit to not only axing one of your characters, give the hero's at least some form of consequences for their actions, but he apparently has a "I've learned my ways" nonsense like babes this isn't MLP. (not to mention that Just in the last episode all the characters basically went "you suck and here's the reasons why". you know, at least characters like Discord and Sunset Shimmer had to work and get better instead of the "I'm sorry" "it's ok it's in the past" nonsense *ahem* Starlight Glimmer *ahem*)
"oh fans are mad that the creator of Their show made the show how They want" yeah babes, that level of writing is on par with that of an authorxcanon fanfiction. fans wanted more answers about all the characters (Not just Goose's purple fuckboy self insert character), and for the plot to Stay with the oh, idk, MAIN CHARACTER. because DESPITE Goose's insistence of "how important Jax is" Pomni Is and always Has Been the MAIN FUCKING CHARACTER of your show. That's who introduces us, that's who we've been largely following and she's really how we've been getting to know other characters. have there been episodes that center others? sure, ep 4 largely centers Gangle's mental problems but honestly after that she's largely left in the dust other than her "will she/won't she" thing with Zooble (and we're not even going to Mention those two when it comes to mech (just like Glitch)
oh btw this is the same woman who has tweets saying shit like "I only made female characters otherwise no one would watch my show" oh and "I love violence against women!"
...WOW just Reeking with internalized misogyny aren't ya there Goose?
not to mention that there are other shows that have a largely male centered cast that does this a Lot better. Despite having a rather lack luster final season; I'm gonna use Voltron as my example here. firstly, the characters not only are actually likable, they are written to have actual personalities, and yes even Keith who's also supposed to be the "grumpy emo boy" of the group still is written in a way to have people be sympathetic towards him instead of everyone thinking "god this guy's an asshole" most of the time (granted that statement was more so given towards Lance in the first season or so but that's just cuz he had to get his enormous ego under control, because he has something that Jax doesn't which is Character Development)
(granted, I've kinda stayed back on the whole voice actor controversy. mainly because 1) I've ignored what every white person has to say on the matter because white liberal savior is as white liberal savior does and "you're not mad enough we'll show you how mad you should be" which btw is problematic as well but y'all aint ready for That conversation. 2) a lot of the poc creators I've seen have been going back and forth of "they know what they were doing and being racist" or "it's a nothing burger and you guys are blowing things out of proportion". so that's all I'm gonna say on that.)
yea, I don't really have much else to say about this other than my worry about Knights of Guinevere cause that's had the most potential for me of the bunch and how Glitch Studio's has been behaving recently; I'm unsure if Dana Terrace is going to want to continue forward with the show now its finally been greenlit. (wow... uh... maybe i did get a little more mad at this than I lead myself to believe but I was one of the few that wanted to believe so badly that Goose would be able to at least land on her feet with this but...)
