I tend to view Talon as a person who prefers sentients over droids but, given his penchant for punny and mischievous ships names, I’ve been thinking about what he might name a droid in his personal employ. Like a valet/butler droid.
Anybody have ideas?
I'm reading a book about Attachment Theory, and its intended purpose is for people to analyze their own behaviours, but the whole time I'm like, "wow I always write Emma as anxious attached and Regina as avoidant attached and end up with them stuck in an axious-avoidant trap until they figure their shit out."
Then I remember this is not a book about how to write fic 🤣🤣
But it's also interesting in a way because whenever I read fluff or any story where Emma and Regina have a completely functional relationship, I'm like, "that sounds fake." Because in no universe can I accept that they both grew up to be securely attached adults. Not a chance. And this book is reaffirming this to me.
And no, this is not the first time I've tried to apply real-life psychology to fictional characters, and especially in looking at how I write them, and it won't be the last 🤣
And also, I gotta say... I didn't know what Attachment Theory was until very recently, but I got it bang on... children with inconsistent parenting tend to grow up to be anxious attached, and children with rigid, overbearing/interfering parents tend to grow up avoidant... if that's not Emma and Regina, I don't know what is.
People sometimes tell me my Emma is OOC, but I have always thought Emma's adult personality, in the show, was out of line with her childhood trauma. And that's a hill I'm willing to die on, tbh.
Please note that in the Jedi of the Dune Sea universe, Anakin lost his Virginity at a very respectable brothel in the outer rim during a mission with the Bad Batch.
He learned a lot.
Like a whole lot.
When he and Padme eventually get together, she is not disappointed.

so i was pretty serious about the whole trilogy thing. like, i think a 3rd fic could tie things up neatly, especially since its not really gercan even though its basically gercan. if that makes sense.
there’s just more about this universe i want to explore, but through these two. i also kinda want to write a fic about matthew having to go rescue ludwig from the fae, which could be hard since no magical creature wants anything to do with matthew. like. seriously. the kind of magic that flows through matthew is ancient and unsettling, he literally repels magic outside his borders. and yes, he def turned into a wendigo on that last transformation. surprise. (also, idk if this was clear, but matthew’s land likes ludwig. it wanted ludwig to find matthew)
so you can imagine he’s not really welcome in the seelie court. of course, i’m not even taking into consideration other myths and folklore, that all coexist.
but a rescue fic would just be matthew ripping open the barrier between our world and theirs and stomping in as a wolf like “give me back my boyfriend” and when he gets ludwig backs ludwig is like “we’re boyfriends” and matthew blushes like “um yes i mean, sorry, yes if you want?”
it would be very straightforward, because matthew aint got time for all those european tropes. he’s not going on a quest. he’s gonna go right after the fairy queen and she’s gonna complain to arthur and arthur’s gonna be like “YOU CAN’T JUST ATTACK THE FAIRY QUEEN” and matthew will be like “she’s not in my folkore ”
but also, i kinda want a slice-of-life fic where you find out just how much matthew can transform into. and why after the 1980s he never transforms again. like. its actually very reckless, and thats why he gets in trouble (with norway, bc norway is the big boss daddy on magic and he disapproves mightily of matthew leaning heavily on his magic. bc matthew borderline abuses it.) (he also disapproves of arthur’s tolerance of matthew’s constant flouting of rules).
i think its stress that makes matthew transform, if its not a controlled choice. and if he stays an animal too long, he just stays in that beast mindset.
just a fic where matthew and ludwig hang out at the cabin. ludwig really wants nothing to do with magic (bc he attracted weird shit most of the 20th century ok) and stuff.
or maybe another prequel with arthur and matthew?

Instead of trying and failing at NaNo again, I think I’m going to try and and get back in the swing of writing by doing ‘30 days, 30 fics’ Because I’ve got loads of scattered ideas for things I want to write for Nirvana in Fire, plus I’ve got my yuletide fic to write... My idea is to challenge myself to write and post one fic a day. Any length, might be a flash fic or a complete scene for a longer fic, and see how I do. So this is me doing my declaration of intent thing to try and increase the likelihood that I will do this thing.

I was thinking: if you were able to read minds, would you really be able to understand everyone?
I mean, everyone’s brains process information differently and they think differently. I think in words, some people in pictures, some in sounds. So what if someone who processes things as sounds is trying to read someone’s mind who processes in pictures? What if it’s two people who process in words but they speak different languages? Are you reading intents and feelings instead of actual thoughts? Are you able to read the feelings that even the person whose mind you’re reading hasn’t registered? Or is it only conscious thought?
