A hornet flew on me. It landed on me. I was so scared I stopped breathing, hoping that if I stayed calm enough, it wouldn't have felt my thigh trembling. It didn't look so scary, after a while. Or maybe I was just tired of keeping my breath in. An ant walked past it, and I thought, "does it know what an ant is? Does it eat ants? What does a hornet eat?" but the hornet just remained motionless. Against the rural background, it was almost invisible, so perfectly camouflaged. I wonder if he knew. A crow flew over us, croaking. I thought, "does it hear it? Can he hear it? Does he care? Does it know there are other creatures other than it, some so vastly bigger than it, it probably couldn't comprehend them?" but the hornet remained stoic once again. Wind picked up, and I blinked, I just blinked, and like that it had flew away.
Do I know? Do I know that there could be creatures so vastly bigger than myself, I wouldn't comprehend their form even if I had them in front of my eyes? Can I hear the wind like the hornet does? Do I know I was made to perfectly match my background, and the earth itself? Am I calm enough to let an ant just be an ant, instead of jumping into action, and shoo it away?
