My favorite kind of stories are the ones where two characters come from the same starting point but due to whatever tragic circumstances in life they end up as enemies. Maybe they both know they're not that different but more importantly it's heartbreaking for at least one of them as they know the other one is the only person who could ever understand them, like truly see them. And the rivalry becomes less about any ideological differences and more about personal hurt and neither of them can ever submit to the other so the war between them never ends until one of them dies
