One thing I really hate about the film bro demographic of cinephiles is the sheer depth of misunderstanding they have about what the 'indomitable human spirit' actually is. Because the slew of action movies about white men shooting things because they feel threatened and then they win and get their girls back is. Not about the indomitable human spirit. It's a white power fantasy. If we want to take from popular western media, the best representation we have is Ripley (a woman) and Watney (a man who had to use his brain instead of a gun) but. You know.

The never ending debate of the criteria to be goth (or any type of alternative) on TikTok is so funny to me because you have people saying it's political and you have people saying no it's entirely media and music based. And what the latter group don't realise is that the music and the media that the music and aesthetic is based off of often discuss social and political issues. They all just talk around each other in circles on that app and never listen to each other
