ok some more questions re: the hunger games and the myth of theseus and ariadne
do we find a parallel to the forgetting to put up the white sails? the death of aegeas?
also what do we make of the fact that katniss and peeta do end up together in the end? if we take peeta to be the parallel to ariadne, then what does that suggest? (i’m thinking that it’s almost a more hopeful version of the myth, that ariadne saves theseus with love, but rather than abandoning her, for katniss and peeta it turns into HER devotion and love for him which pulls him out of his “madness” ((hijacking = madness parallel)) (((youre a painter youre a baker you always sleep with the windows open THAT MOMENT it’s her love that starts to bring him back)))
and also--there’s the fact too that theseus VOLUNTEERS to slay the minotaur. disrupting the order that simply sends these young people to die. katniss doesn’t really volunteer to slay the “beast” of the games, she volunteers out of love for her sister. but the aspect of ASKING to go i think is still relevant too?
a plot that sends me on a one-way ticket to crazytown is someone knowing mutt in a completely different city/state/country and then they surprise reunite with him miles and miles from that location because he's a drifter constantly on the run and gets as far away from one place as he can if something goes wrong and someone's out for him or he just gets paranoid about staying in one place for too long or maybe he even got involved too deep with someone bad and they forced him to travel that length. gulp

underrated au ship dynamic: the star athlete that's alienated their peers with their bad reputation in interviews and the exasperated sports agent that decides to take a chance on them
Mr. Joshua Graham I’m soft for you this evening.
