Hi:) I'm new to kpop and the only group I've listened to is Monsta X(which I like). Do you have any suggestions for bands that I could listen to? Sorry, I'm new and inexperiencedXD
sure thing! (and welcome to the kpop world!) there are so many new artists out there and since you’re new and you like monsta x, i’ll give you a variety of bands you could listen to since most of monsta x’s discography is fairly diverse, as well

boy groups
boy groups!! these are bands that like everyone knows, even if not everyone likes them. these bands can do both cute and tough, much like monsta x
with 7 members and 2013 debut is bts! definitely very hip hop oriented (3/7 members are rappers) and i recommend literally every song lmao. start with the classics, though - no more dream, we are bulletproof, boy in luv. if you’re looking for a softer style, try just one day, converse high, coffee, and miss right. literally listen to their entire discography, you won’t be disappointed
i also suggest block b and subunit bastarz. block b has 7 members, debuted in 2011, and is more hip hop oriented. my personal faves in this genre are halo and jackpot, but very good and nilili mambo are classics. cuter style? her is a must-hear. bastarz has 3 members and zero for conduct, which is similar to monsta x’s gone bad
if you like monsta x, you’ll like some of got7′s music. also 7 members but 2014 debut. they started with girls girls girls and got better (take a listen to put them up as an example). not exactly hip hop, but i think you’ll see what i mean, lol. lots of cute stuff later on - a (my personal fave), confession song (softer ver of amen lol), forever young, and literally everything else
seventeen has 13 members and debuted in 2015 but already have two eps and are prepping for another comeback right now. all i ever talk about is svt and i just can’t get over the amount of raw talent in this group (they’re also close friends with monsta x and did a mama performance with them). i recommend all 10 of their songs but if you want me to break it down then vocal unit does cute stuff (when i grow up, 20) while hip hop and performance unit do the more dance/tough stuff (omg, ah yeah). also listen to their two title tracks adore u and mansae! speaking of mama see got7 and bts’ performance here
bigbang. i could sit here and list everything they’ve ever done and fawn over bigbang (5 members, 2006 debut) but i’m just going to give you the entire made album and let you experience the magic with their most recent album. listen to everything they’ve ever done. every group i will list here idolizes bigbang and for good reason. fantastic baby is iconic

girl groups
so idk if you like girl groups or not but considering you’re new to kpop and girl groups need more love, i’m gonna give you some girl groups but i won’t go into as much detail since they’ll be more different from monsta x than some boy groups

2ne1 (2009 debut, 4 members) are the queens and im not gonna say anything except listen to the entire crush album. here’s crush and falling in love to start. also, i am the best is the iconic of anything iconic.
why not love both 2ne1 and snsd (2007 debut, 8 members)? try you think for tough (BOP) and party for cute for starters. in fact, this entire recent album is diverse, as is i got a boy. also, everyone knows gee.
