I'm gonna answer everything in one post because it's easier.
1. When is their birthday?
7. Is your character an optimist or a pessimist?
Declan is a realist with strong optimistic tendencies. He expects problems because life taught him to, but he also believes most problems can be solved. When things go wrong, his instinct isn’t to dwell on it. It’s to fix it. He doesn’t assume things will work out. He makes sure they do.
10. Do they believe in love at first sight?
Declan doesn’t believe in love at first sight, but he does believe in instant connection. He was fascinated by Jenna from the moment they met, but to him, love is something built through trust, consistency, and choice.
11. How would your character court the person of their dreams?
Declan would court the person of his dreams Jenna through consistency, intention, and quiet romance. He’d pay attention to the little things, remember details, make time for them despite a busy schedule, and make sure they felt wanted and valued. He has a romantic side and would absolutely want Jenna to feel wooed, but he isn’t flashy or showy about it. For Declan, romance is less about grand public gestures and more about thoughtful acts, reliability, and building a life together.
12. What makes your character embarrassed?
Declan doesn’t embarrass easily and usually stays composed under pressure, but he dislikes being the center of attention. Large crowds, public scenes, or situations that put all eyes on him tend to make him uncomfortable. He’s much more likely to be embarrassed by personal attention or public displays focused on him than by professional mistakes. He prefers to stay behind the scenes, handle problems quietly, and let his actions speak for themselves.
21. How do they display affection?
Declan displays affection through actions more than words. He shows love by being reliable, making time for the people he cares about, paying attention to details, and quietly taking care of problems before they become burdens for someone else. Physical touch is also a big part of how he expresses affection, especially with Jenna. He likes closeness — a hand on her back, reaching for her hand, pulling her close on the couch, small touches throughout the day just to feel connected. For Declan, affection is less about grand gestures and more about making people feel secure, wanted, cared for, and close to him. It's all about the quiet intimacy.
23. What do they consider beautiful in others physically?
Declan is drawn more to presence and the way someone carries themselves than any single physical trait. Confidence, expressive eyes, an easy smile, and natural elegance tend to catch his attention. He appreciates beauty that feels effortless rather than performative and notices the small details other people overlook. He’s also undeniably drawn to dark features, strong presence, and women who carry themselves with confidence and ambition. Physical attraction matters to him, but personality and connection are what make someone truly beautiful in his eyes.
25. What do they consider beautiful in others personality-wise?
Declan finds kindness, loyalty, resilience, and authenticity beautiful. He admires people who are ambitious and passionate about what they do, but also values warmth and emotional intelligence. He’s drawn to people who are genuine, dependable, and strong enough to keep going when life gets difficult. A good sense of humor, confidence without arrogance, and the ability to be vulnerable with the people they trust also stand out to him. More than anything, he values people who are real, people who know who they are and aren’t pretending to be someone else.
27. What is their idea of perfect happiness?
Declan’s idea of perfect happiness is simple: the people he loves safe, happy, and together. Success matters to him, and he takes pride in what he’s built professionally, but family is what makes him feel fulfilled. A quiet evening at home with Jenna, time spent with Merritt and Abigail, laughter around the dinner table, and knowing the people he loves are okay would mean more to him than any business achievement. After growing up with instability, happiness to him isn’t perfection. It’s having a life and family worth coming home to.
28. What makes them laugh out loud?
Declan laughs most easily around the people he trusts. Dry humor, sarcasm, witty banter, and the kind of teasing that comes with being close to someone tend to get him the most. His family can make him laugh harder than anyone else, whether it’s Jenna keeping him on his toes, Abigail being unintentionally funny, or Merritt reminding him that no amount of money or experience protects him from being roasted by his children. He’s not usually loud or over-the-top in public, but around the people he loves, his sense of humor comes out much more easily.
38. What bad habits do they have?
Declan has a habit of taking care of everyone except himself. He’s incredibly good at showing up for other people, solving problems, and putting the needs of his family before his own, but he’s much worse at recognizing when he needs rest, help, or support. He can be stubborn, struggles to ask for help, and tends to throw himself into fixing situations rather than dealing with difficult emotions. He also has workaholic tendencies, especially when stressed, and sometimes takes on responsibilities that were never really his to carry. His instinct is always to protect and provide — even when it comes at his own expense.
39. What do they think is the worst thing that can be done to a person?
Declan believes one of the worst things you can do to a person is abandon them, especially when they need you most. He thinks betrayal, broken trust, and making someone feel unwanted or disposable can leave wounds that last far longer than people realize. Loyalty matters deeply to him, and because of his own experiences, he believes that choosing to walk away from responsibilities or the people who depend on you can cause lasting damage. More than anything, he believes people deserve consistency, honesty, and to know they can rely on the people who claim to love them.
46. How do they handle getting sick?
Declan handles getting sick badly, mostly because he tries to pretend he isn’t sick in the first place. He tends to downplay symptoms, insist he’s fine, and keep working longer than he should. He’s much better at taking care of other people than letting other people take care of him, so being forced to slow down frustrates him. Around Jenna and the girls, though, he’s more likely to eventually give in because they know him too well to let him get away with it. Even then, he usually needs to be reminded to rest, take medicine, and stop trying to answer emails from bed.
49. How does your character feel about growing old?
Declan has mixed feelings about growing older. He doesn’t fear aging itself and takes pride in the life he’s built, but he’s aware of how quickly time passes and doesn’t like being reminded of it. Watching his daughters grow up, seeing milestones come and go, and realizing how much life has changed can make him unexpectedly emotional. More than getting older, he fears losing time with the people he loves or becoming unable to take care of them the way he always has. To him, aging is less about appearances and more about making sure he doesn’t take the important things for granted.
50. How does your character feel about their own mortality?
Declan doesn’t spend a lot of time thinking about his own mortality, but he’s very aware of it. Losing people, growing older, and becoming a husband and father made him think more seriously about the future than he did when he was younger. He’s less afraid of dying than he is of leaving things unfinished or leaving the people he loves without the support and stability he’s spent his life trying to build for them. His instinct has always been to protect and provide, so the idea of no longer being able to do that bothers him more than death itself.
51. If they knew they would die tomorrow, what would they do today?
If Declan knew he was going to die tomorrow, he would spend the day with the people he loves. He’d want time with Jenna, Merritt, and Abigail, probably somewhere quiet and familiar rather than doing anything extravagant. He’d make sure practical things were taken care of because that’s who he is, but more than anything, he’d want his family to know how loved they are and that they’ll be okay without him. He wouldn’t want a dramatic final day. He’d want an ordinary one with the people who matter most.
74. What is your character’s favorite game?
Declan enjoys games that are strategic and social more than anything flashy. He likes card games, poker nights, chess, and anything that gives him something to think about while spending time with people he cares about. Golf is also one of his favorites as he enjoys the strategy, patience, and quiet focus it requires. He’s competitive, but usually in a controlled way, and tends to care just as much about the company and conversation as the game itself.
76. How do they express anger?
Declan rarely expresses anger loudly. When he’s upset, he tends to become quieter, more controlled, and more focused rather than explosive. He usually channels anger into action such as fixing problems, taking control of situations, or finding solutions instead of venting. When he’s truly angry, though, his tone becomes clipped, colder, and much more direct. He dislikes unnecessary conflict and rarely raises his voice, but when someone hurts the people he loves or violates his trust, his anger becomes much harder to ignore. He’s much more likely to internalize anger than express it immediately, which means by the time people realize how upset he is, they’ve usually already crossed a line.
82. What are your character’s sleeping preferences?
Declan prefers comfort, routine, and familiarity when it comes to sleep. He’s an early riser and usually starts his mornings with a run, so he tends to keep a fairly consistent schedule when he can. He’s also a light sleeper and is quick to wake up if something feels off or someone needs him. More than anything, though, he sleeps best with Jenna beside him. Physical closeness is important to him, and he genuinely struggles to sleep well without some form of contact like an arm around her, holding her hand, or simply knowing she’s close. For all his independence during the day, sleep is one place where he’s quietly clingier than most people realize.
83. What is the first thing they say and/or do when they wake up?
Declan usually wakes up early and quietly. The first thing he does is check on Jenna, often without thinking about it. Whether that means pulling her closer for a moment, kissing her forehead, or making sure she’s comfortable before getting out of bed, he always takes the time to check on her. He’s a creature of habit, so once he’s awake, he’s awake. After that, it’s usually coffee, a morning run, and starting his routine. If Jenna is awake too, his first words are often something simple and familiar rather than anything dramatic.
95. Name three things most would not expect your character to be able to do.
Most people would be surprised that Declan can:
People expect takeout, private chefs, or business dinners. Instead, he’s perfectly capable in a kitchen and actually enjoys cooking for his family because feeding people is one of the ways he shows love.
2. Handle high-pressure crises without panicking.
Most people know he’s successful, but they don’t realize just how calm he stays when things go wrong. Whether it’s family emergencies, business problems, or situations like Merritt’s arrest, he becomes more focused under pressure.
3. Be incredibly affectionate and physically clingy in private.
People see a composed investor and assume he’s distant. In reality, he’s very touch-oriented with Jenna and much softer behind closed doors than most people would expect.
