That’s good to know. It makes more sense than its contemporaries like Final Fight where the explanation for pipe-wielding gang members roaming in droves through every major city was just “It be like that”. Didn’t Streets of Rage 3 have aliens in it?

Man, is Double Dragon the most sensible setting in the beat-’em-up genre?

FUN MGS2 FACT: Commander Dolph was named for Kojima's one-time translator Scott Dolph. This is not the fun fact. The fun part is that Scott was ALSO instrumental to early Bemani (Konami's rhythm division, like DDR and its cousins) because he was a frequent vocalist as someone in the office who could speak English. Please imagine Fortune's dad rapping. It's great.

Just started on Yakuza Kiwami (after detouring to 0 before your episode) and boy. You undersold the madness of this world. And how entirely sexless Kiryu is.

I come bearing weird adventure games. Jack Orlando is, uh, "not woke" but an incredibly stupid murder mystery just as prohibition ends. Bizarre Earthquake and Alpha Polaris are horror-themed games that feel like an alien wrote them at times. And what's that? Did you want to know what Uncharted would be like if someone beat Drake upside the head with a bible every time he quipped? BAH GAWD THAT'S ADAM'S VENTURE'S MUSIC I HEAR

Given that our past forays into the adventure game genre introduced us to magical stuff like Hypnosis and HELL: A Cyberpunk Adventure, I say bring on the adventure games!

I feel like FF4: The After Years is worse than Dirge, for the record. I've played both.

That was the bonus pseudo-sequel added to the PSP version of FF4, right? Neither of us have played it, but we have heard bad things. At least Cait Sith isn’t there, though!

I feel like your bringing up Project Spark without remembering that Linkin Park were hired to make a music video "in it" really undersells what a failure that was that had way too many millions pumped into it.

It just got added if you had the season pass, it launched with the megapatch that coincided with the PS4 launch. It's like a budget Gone Home in Croft Manor except you learn some real weird things about Lara's family. Both sides.

Interesting. We’ll keep that in mind for when we inevitably do an ep on Rise and its predecessor.

So did you guys do the Croft Manor stuff in Rise of the Tomb Raider? If not, consider investigating it, Lord Croft is an Umbrella-tier crazy person.

Jared here. I can’t speak for Greg, but I didn’t even know you could explore the Croft Manor. Is that like a New Game+ thing or something?
