[Content warning: pessimistic feelings about life after Covid]
Speaking entirely from a self-centered point of view, one of my greatest wishes at the moment is that when this pandemic gets under control, there will emerge a sort of second Roaring Twenties, where adults young and not-so-young will be so sick of feeling isolated and cooped up that they’ll suddenly see the value in hanging out and going out to do things, having parties, etc. more intensely than in the late 2010′s (one of my biggest complaints about life as a young professional then).
And, speaking entirely from a self-centered point of view, one of my greatest fears at the moment is that when this pandemic gets under control, most of the people around me will feel so lodged in introvert mode (as on some level I’m noticing even in myself!) coupled with an instinct for caution (after all, when will we know it’s really under control?) and will have adjusted their lives so effectively to doing everything remotely (both work and social) that people will be permanently less social than they used to be and that I’ll be stuck without intimate friends, companionship, or reliable social activities forever.
The actual eventual scenario will probably be somewhere in the middle of the spectrum of those two extremes, or some combination of them, but I feel low-spirited in reasoning that the latter scenario seems overall more plausible than the former.
Goals for 2020
January:
Buy that denim jacket I’ve been avoiding for almost a year. -You want it, go enjoy yourself already, you never buy new new clothes.
Realize a teaser for my first fan fic. -You have a deadline now, so just start off the new decade right and do it.
Get a new ear piercing.
Get a savings bond for the next decade.
By the end of the year:
Dye my hair dark blue so I can live my anime dreams. -No bleach, look like you walked out of a Ghibli production.
At the very least start the process of getting a legal name change. -Don’t have to put too high of an expectation on the year, a start is a good goal.
Have some savings.
Get back into working in theatre. -You love it, it found you, go be queer and happy.
Go to Pride. -You deserve it.
Finish coming out. -Maybe not in that order?
Get back into yoga, even if it’s only a little bit.
Finish reading Good Omens.
Try busking. -You’ll need a permit. Make it gay.
By the end of the decade:
Move.
Get top surgery.
Have savings.
Cut toxic people out of my life.
Start a career.
Think about starting T or not.

This standalone Amazon saga is set outside of Themyscira and involves a wandering band of original female characters created by Kevin Grevioux (best known for writing and acting in the film Underworld, although he also has a number of comics credits). The global approach to Amazon lore leans heavily on multiculturalism, with black women at the center. The main storyline in this limited series deals with Norse monsters and mythology and the Amazons’ conflict and eventual alliance with the Valkyries, which is kind of random but fun. an apocryphal origin from Kevin Grevioux (The Odyssey of the Amazons No. 4) [2017]
