Maybe you are right. There is a saying in Bengali: koyla r moyla jaye na dhule, shobhab jaye na morle ( a coal remains black even if you wash it, a man (gender neutral) doesn't change even after death). I think when I think of cancel culture, the most popular movement that comes to mind is with the HP fandom. I think many, many, many people have stopped completely engaging with JKR and thus stopped at least a portion of her income so that at least a part of it won't go into terf movements.
I don't know much about her, as pertains to her recent successes or failures, but disengaging from her content sends a much clearer message than merely complaining about her, while still putting money in her pocket.
So yes. I would agree that she could be an example of cancel culture done right... if it is true that people really aren't engaging.
But everytime a new Fantastic Beast movie comes out, I wonder...
