Maybe you are right. There is a saying in Bengali: koyla r moyla jaye na dhule, shobhab jaye na morle ( a coal remains black even if you wash it, a man (gender neutral) doesn't change even after death). I think when I think of cancel culture, the most popular movement that comes to mind is with the HP fandom. I think many, many, many people have stopped completely engaging with JKR and thus stopped at least a portion of her income so that at least a part of it won't go into terf movements.

I don't know much about her, as pertains to her recent successes or failures, but disengaging from her content sends a much clearer message than merely complaining about her, while still putting money in her pocket.

So yes. I would agree that she could be an example of cancel culture done right... if it is true that people really aren't engaging.

But everytime a new Fantastic Beast movie comes out, I wonder...

Everybody saying Abby & Harper’s relationship was unhealthy need a reality check.

Their relationship was perfectly fine, until Harper made a mistake. How she treated Abby was poor and disrespectful, but you can actually see the surprise when Abby sees her like that. That’s not Harper. Or better she fears that THAT’S Harper.

By the end, both Abby and the audience know that that was indeed NOT HARPER. She was stressed, and felt pressured, by Abby as well. If Harper lied to Abby about coming out to her parents, there probably was a reason. Usually that reason is: my partner wants me to come out.

After that she was outed. Do you have any fucking idea what it is like to have a member of your family out you because they’re pissed at you in front of your conservative father who stares at you like you have grown horns? And who walks out? And doesn’t show his face for HOURS? I have a feeling you don’t. You’re just demonizing bad choices, human choices and poor behavior, because you’ve got a crush on Aubrey Plaza.

And, ffs, don’t take the tracking thing seriously because when it was John doing it it was magically ok. It’s a rom com! There’s rules. Stupid comedy, inciting incident and conflicts are a part of that! What did you think conflict was going to be with that premise? Abby got Harper the wrong stockings for christmas?

tldr; Abby & Harper were not in an unhealthy relationship. Harper acted like an asshole for a couple of days because her family sucks and she still needs their support and then she made up for it and apologized.

Only if it’s pine scent and you can pretend you’re actually camping. Otherwise, I have to respectfully disagree. A lighter is the way to go with no gas stove. You have full control over that baby and no scented oil is vaporizing and getting all over your mallow.
