there are a lot of arguments on this blog that really prove it's impossible to please everyone, and there is a group of people who won't be happy whatever you do. using the ever-present silver arguments as an example, some people think silver's too much of a wimp, other people think he's fine, and there are silver fans who literally just hate how everyone else characterizes silver so you'll never win them over no matter what you do. it is so much more productive to just acknowledge that humans are humans and not everyone is going to be happy with creative decisions made in video games and comics.
however there's also an issue of people acting like their opinion is the end all be all of the subject. everyone is different and presenting your subjective view of something as if it's a fact is weird and counterproductive as hell.

Shadria (shadow x maria) isn't as problematic as people make it out to be. The majority of ships in the fandom are interspecies. The only difference here is that one of the species is human. It's not like animals in the Sonic universe can't consent like in the real world. Also, them seeing each other as siblings really isn't that big of a deal, relationships evolve all the time, and there's nothing wrong with changing fictional characters' dynamic. I personally don't ship Shadria and dont particularly like it, but I don't see anything morally wrong with it. Just because something is a little weird, or makes you uncomfortable, doesn't make it problematic. That being said, the ship isn't problematic, but I know some of the weirdos that happen to ship it are.

instead of using narcissism as a fill-in descriptor how about using the actual word you mean? its just easier to understand your point, this goes for every word similar. example
"person has an ego issue" either they lack one or its inflated to the point it causes issues. Very hard to misunderstand, it's clearly about someones ego
vs
"person is narcissistic' are you talking about a specific trait that's related to the diagnostic criteria, do they have that diagnosed as a personality disorder or are you using it as a more vague 'acceptable' version for another word?
