you know how when you're young and in school and people force you to do shit and you have an entire cry about it and eventually *do* manage to do it while crying in front of your entire class about it and you (and probably the people who forced you) think that "great! now you are stronger :)"

and then it ends up bullshit and emotional damage/scars you're still carrying with you like. a decade later. and it's preventing you from trying to actually Learn to Do the Thing Yourself
