Brenda is looking out of the window of the small house she and Saab are currently standing in, noticing that the sky was lit with oranges and pinks as the sun sets. She smiles as she pulls a plush blanket around her shoulders like a cape, the cool January air making her shiver just a bit.
Brenda picked up a hot cup of tea that she had left on the kitchen counter, one hand reaching around to keep her blanket in place before she takes the short walk to the couch. She sets her mug down on a nearby coffee table before laying down, the plush sofa welcoming her as she settles onto it with a soft sigh.
Brenda arrived home after getting coffee with Tori, Isaac had given her the day off. ‘Just go home,’ he had said the previous day with a small smile but firm tone, ‘You’ve been working too hard anyways, you haven’t taken a day off in a month.’
Brenda had laughed, simply going home without a fight and having prompted Tori to take the day off as well. Brenda had simply spent the day relaxing, from taking a bubble bath to getting coffee with Tori. For the first time in a month she was rested and revived, the only person missing from today had been Saab.
He had woken up before her and had quietly gotten ready for the day before kissing her on the forehead on his way out the door, knowing how tired she was. Saab had sent her a text saying ‘Good morning <#’ to wake up to, making her smile and blush as she read it.
That text had made the start of her day amazing, the rest of her day drama free and spent happily relaxing. Now she’s home again, curled up on the couch and waiting for Saab to walk through the door after his own long day at work. They had nothing planned for that evening other than relaxation, having not spent a calm and drama free night together in over a month.
The sound of the front door being unlocked makes Brenda jump, breaking herself out of her thoughts as she hears footsteps coming down the hallway.
Sure enough, Saab’s head pokes into the room, a tired smile on his face as he sees Brenda waiting, wrapped up on the couch like a little blanket burrito.
Brenda’s face lights up, “Hey handsome, I missed you today,” she says as she watches Saab walk over to her, quickly kissing her with a smile.
Saab lets out a heavy sigh, sinking to the ground for a moment before he stands up. “Hey, I’ll be right back, just have to change,” he says before walking out of the room.
Brenda watches Saab walk out for a moment before getting up and starting the coffee maker, her thoughts wandering as she walks over to the small kitchen window, noticing that the sun has almost finished its descent over the horizon and that the stars were beginning to appear.
Saab emerges from the bedroom after changing into a sweatpants and t-shirt, stopping in his tracks to admire the sight of Brenda in the light of the setting sun. He leans against the archway to the living room as he takes in the domestic and content sight, enjoying the small moment and mentally recording it for the future.
He breaks himself out of the moment with a silent sigh, smiling as he walks over to Brenda and startles her, wrapping his arms around her waist and kissing her on the cheek mischievously as she taps his arm reproachfully.
“Saab, don’t scare me like that,” Brenda laughs out as she feels his arms tighten around her. “Your coffee is brewing right now, I made decaf this time.”
Saab takes a deep breath, enjoying the scent of his decaf hazelnut coffee as it brews. “Thank you,” he says with a soft smile as he closes his eyes, tugging her close to him and taking in the warm emotions that fill him completely. “I appreciate that,” he comments as he enjoys the love in the air, taking one of her hands in his and entangling their fingers together.
Brenda smiles, squeezing his hand with hers as she looks at Saab for a moment, kissing his cheek gently before turning back and closing her eyes as she leans into him, enjoying the warmth of his body against hers. The two of them stand there together, the sound of the coffee pot beeping not even interrupting them as they enjoy the moment, wrapped up in each other’s love and secure with the fact that they’re together and the world is right for the moment.
Brenda sighs before she opens her eyes, noticing that the stars have appeared in the darkened sky above them. She smiles as she looks back, noticing that Saab has opened his eyes and is looking at her with love in his eyes. She turns in his arms, looking into his love-filled eyes with her own.
As they stand there, staring into each other’s eyes with nothing but love, they could swear they were falling in love even more with each passing moment.
Saab closes his eyes and presses his forehead against Brenda’s, feeling as she draws herself ever closer to his body and settles against him, her arms wrapping around to embrace him as he pulls her ever closer, her eyes closing as she smiles.
In the moments that they spent together, moments like this one, they could swear that they felt nothing but love for each other. It was moments like these that bring them closer, these moments in the dark under the starlit sky. These moments spent wrapped in love that keeps them warm, the feeling making them both warm as they enjoy each other’s embrace.
