I'm gonna start the propaganda/factoid-ing early (if that's okay) with some fun facts about aphids.

Aphids are born pregnant. Almost all aphids are female and reproduce asexually-- they give birth to live young up to a dozen times a day. The exception is in autumn, when male aphids are born, and the females then lay fertilised eggs to last through the winter. Aphids are usually wingless but grow wings if conditions are too crowded. The gene responsible appears to originate from a virus that triggers wing growth in insects to help itself spread.

This is either arthropod propaganda or anti-propaganda depending on whether you find this fascinating or horrifying. I think it's a little of both.

I'm pretty sure Heilige were initially a poor family but then Elise heard about someone in the woods who grants wishes and exchanged her daughters name for "a chance at happiness". Eventually he possessed Goldia and kept ruining her family from the inside. Goldia's illness was an aftermath of his possession.

Rangers actually reported several submarine sightings in the mid-1980s. On 26 July 1983, two 'Native girls' [sic] from Broughton Island spotted two men wearing orange toques and brown uniforms on the deck of a submarine before it submerged and moved out into the Davis Strait. In September 1985, Ranger Master Corporal Lukasie Naapaluk reported the sighting of a large wake, 'as large as the icebreaker which serves that area,' and bubbles moving into Wakeham Bay. One year later, two Inuit fishers passed on separate sightings of a vessel 'larger than a whale' with a large mast and 'mirrors' near Arctic Bay. During the summer of 1987, a group of hunters watched a submarine surface in Akimski Strait (James Bay) an called out to the men on its deck, while Rangers at Coppermine (Kugluktuk) identified two submarines. Sergeant Clarence Rufus of Tuktoyaktuk recounted how, upon seeing a strange object in water, 'one ranger asked if it was a whale. The other guy said, "if that's a whale it's got a guy walking down its back." Without Canadian submarines or subsurface sensors to detect foreign incursions into the country's Arctic waters, the Rangers fulfilled an important surveillance role in the North.

I just asked my husband who works with genetics, apparently the chance of having twins is age dependant. It is twice as high for women over 35 than for women in their 20s (because a certain hormone that influences that increases with age) for fraternal twins, bc there is a genetic pre-disposition while identical twins are a random occurrence and happen in the same percentages through all age groups.

ok cool! omg so initially since all the twins i kno have exactly one older sibling i thought that maybe having one child beforehand somehow biologically increases the odds to have twins follow. but it’s nothing to do with that at all? it’s all about age and the hormones that increase the odds…

is that maybe why fraternal twins tend not to be first born? since they typically come later in life because that hormone appears later in women?

so is it safe to say that within the rarity of the world of twins—-having identical first born twins is super rare?

and does it vary by race? r twins more commonly found in one race as opposed to the other or does that not even remotely matter from a biological standpoint?

It is becoming increasingly vexing to me that all of the women teaching classes in these brochures are referred to as "Mrs. John Q. Citizen." Just because you got married doesn't mean you totally gave up your identity, even in 1960.
