We got an advertisement in the mail for pet supplies, and my husband said, "Oh, they know we just got cats now," and I replied that of course they do, because the pet store asks to enter in our phone number (for their "rewards program") every time we've bought something from them. And then came the exchange that has had me staring into space for the past two days:
