all of the "hunting season" and related comments you see on therian posts especially on tiktok...

as a hunter myself, its not that fucking hard to literally not even think about it. no way any of those are actually coming from real hunters...

like i dont even think about hunting when i see animals i hunt most of the time, real hunters dont go around like oh i can kill and eat that animal

I agree with the thought that these comments aren't actually coming from real hunters. Most are coming from right wing teenage boys that think that any sort of deviation from the normal is an inherit threat that should be destroyed.

It's really frustrating that I'm starting to see more and more posts of parents taking pictures of their kids wearing masks, tails, gear, etc, and having the captions be "My kid likes to wear the mask because it makes them happy/they're autistic (they always like to say they're autistic for some reason), and is NOT at all associated with therians! I have nothing against them but I just wish they would stay away from us/ stop thinking my CHILD who is HAVING FUN is one of them. But no hate! I just remember the time people were allowed to BE KIDS and not weird!"

And when people obviously go. "Hey um, can you not talk about therians like we're hurting you?" It's always met with. "Oh I have NOTHING against them, I just don't want people to ever think of my kid being associated with them, and for them to stop commenting on my posts, and for people to keep things to themselves in the bedroom"

So fun fact - people don't need to be put into psych wards unless they are genuinely a danger to themselves or others due to (usually) some sort of mental illness or episode. Since I'm healthy and taking care of myself and my children whilst maintaining healthy relationships, I dont need a psych ward!

I'd also argue that this statement is not only ableist/saneist but also incredibly racist. Why? Well idk... wanna know who else got put into psych wards bc they were a little different? Black and indigenous people. Bingo.

When I try to explain to people that the word “kin” does not mean to relate to a character, and the correct term is “synpath” or “syn”, but people say “the textbook definition of kin is to be related to!” instead of accepting the fact that ALTERHUMANS EXIST.

1. "kin" as in "otherkin" does not stem from kin as in family, it stems from otherkind, as in "of another kind"

2. "kin" as in "kinning" does not stem from kin as in family either, it was explicitly stolen from otherkin and acting like it was never supposed to be that is revisionist history

like this isn't even a "language evolves" issue this is a "yeah except that's not what you ever meant by "kinning" and you know it, you're just using that as an excuse retroactively for why it's fine to appropriate our terms"
