Snippet Sunday XIX

19 is a weird number to write in Roman Numerals. Prophet snippet!

“No, I – I do care, I – why did I say I didn’t care? I’ve been curious about it since…” Cain ran a hand through his hair. “Fuck. Since as long as I can remember, really.”

“Really?”

“Of course!”

“As long as you can remember?”

“Yes!”

“That’s a weird thing to be interested in for as long as you can remember.”

“It’s perfectly normal, I think. When you have a brother who can – do what you can, you know?”

The rest stop hadn’t gotten any warmer, Theo knew that. He still felt flushed, his heart beating in his throat. “I, um… just… quickly, what are you talking about?”

A hard stare. A momentary pause. “The future? The fact you can see it?”

“Okay, yeah, that makes – that makes a lot more sense, instead of – yeah.”

“What were you talking about?”

“Well, see, the – we’d been talking about the guy at the concert, so I thought…” his brothers stare didn’t waver. Theo focused his attention on extracting the strands of onion from his burger. “I thought you were asking how long I’d been bi for, which-”

A short, sharp laugh, loud enough that the worker glanced over at them. A brief light in his brothers eyes, amusement bright in his gaze. “Why would I care about that? That’s – do what you’ll do, I don’t care. Stay on topic.”

I am at 12 completed chapters #and 10 snippets and starts and segments #some much closer to being completed than others #other good news - the chapters I have not written are the fun ones #and also the ones at the beginning ew #but the fun ones are exciting. The CLIMAX #waHOO #anyway here's a flashback of Theo and Cain once again #this happens every time a statue is destroyed #every time I write one of these my heart aches for what once was between them #good brothers.
