There’s someone I used to be mutuals with who has said some things about Russian media that makes me uncomfortable…like I’m pro Ukraine 100% but…I’m just gonna tell you what he said

Basically he said that you shouldn’t ever engage with Russian media no matter how harmless it seems because it’s all a pipeline to pro Russian propaganda

Like he said you can’t even listen to the Russian cover of Porque Te Vas and said “anything Russian is shitty”

He also started censoring it like “r*ssia” and “ruzzia”

I understand that the Russian government sucks and has stolen culture from other Slavic countries but it’s not like literally everything any Russian makes is propaganda…You ever heard of IC3PEAK? Смерти Больше Нет is definitely NOT “pro Russian” propaganda lmao

He hasn’t talked about any of this since December so *maybe* his stance has changed but idk

They tried to put a data centre in the slavic village I live just outside of (but my fam still lives in.)

Luckily the community rallied behind support for us, but I think its disgusting they targeted a village of (generational/new) immigrants who are typically less well off.. I am glad the sureounding communities came together to help the slavic village.

the fact that so many people don't know of the crimes of austria-hungary is very concerning, actually. people have no idea they're using germanized versions of czech stuff, for an example. people have no idea that slavic nations under austria-hungary were constantly seen as lesser nations, and went trough forced germanization and hungarization. in my country (croatia) our own language was seen as the "language for peasants" and everyone just used german or hungarian. ive never seen anyone who isn't slavic talk about this and it seems a bit like erasure of the suffering slavic people have went trough throughout history.

I don't know how to word this but i will try to keep it simple.

There are so many people who glaze ottoman empire for what they did to my country, Serbia, and other balkan countries.

It's so odd how acceptable it is to say pro colonialist and slavery stuff when it's about Ottoman occupation of the Balkans.

The ottomans did so many gruesome things to us yet It's so normalized to overlook them.

The ottoman empire was awful. Beyond awful.

Yet my people (and other balkan people) are always being overlooked as "haha the warzone of europe" meme stuff
