yes choosing that is most definitely cheating, but i'm going to fill it with a tiny tiny drabble for you anyways. cause im nice like that.
When he says, "I'll love you forever," he means it as best he can. Forever for him is as long as he shall live. Years which will become seconds and instances in a blink of an eye, until he's nothing but a memory left behind.
But when Thranduil replies, "I'll love you forever too," he means it as the words are - even when Bard is gone and nothing more than a name in the history books. There will still be one who reminder him, deep inside his heart.
And that makes every moment worth it.
