1 and 17 for Veryn? 😁
1. What kind of person is your OC in a crisis? Are they calm and collected? Do they panic? Or are they chronically the cause?
Veryn is the calm and collected type, for sure. He has seen some pretty extreme things and had to survive poverty in Baldur's Gate, so he can be tough to ruffle or catch off guard. For Veryn to panic, to truly show that his resolve has been cracked, it would take an extremely personal attack or affront. He would have to feel unsafe in a way that threatened the very core of his identity. He also cannot stop stealing, like even if it is unnecessary and he doesn't have particular need of the items. Some people buy nice things for their friends, Veryn will nick odds and ends just because they reminded him of someone. Although he's not a complete dolt, he's careful not to take what could be easily tracked down. Rude thing to gift somebody something and have them take the fall for the crime...not his style. That said, because of his roguish personality quirks, he can also very much be a chronic cause of crises. Minor crises, but still. It can be a pain. 17. Does your OC have an enemy? What happened between them? Is it mutual or one-sided? Is it petty or serious? Is one party seeking revenge? Does one person want the other dead or are they content to hate them from afar?
So Veryn committed a very serious crime when he was still a child and his mother was still living. This contributed to their troubles, unfortunately, so his desire to make his sickly mother's life easier was earnest. It severed his ties with the wood elves from his father's clan, and more importantly the wood itself, which he'd come to love so much. There is no specific enemy here, but let's just say the catalyst was...familial. And so he might not be particularly welcome amongst a very small sect of his kind.
Other than that, once he began the life of a ruffian to put food on the table and medicines in his mother's hands, the primary goal was not to end up on the radar of The Guild. As he got older and bolder, there were more and more trips to the Undercity for one job or another, and thankfully he was skilled enough in the darkness to never arouse the searching eye of Nine-Fingers.
