Kinda fun to reminisce on my personal experience with the muppets and sesame street and see how its evolved over the years. I watched a few of the muppet movies as a kid, mostly the ones coming out around that time like Christmas Carol, Muppet Treasure Island, and Muppets in space, all of which were major staples in daycare. I saw them a LOT! But I did love them a lot as well. I remember some favorite scenes as a kid being ‘Cabin Fever’, “Marley and Marley’ and of course ‘Celebration’ from those movies. Loved musical segments a lot as a kid, I guess. As for sesame street, there are two main things I remember. The first is when I was going in for an ear surgery. It was early morning, I had been hooked up to an iv and was alone in this waiting room in one of those gurney beds. I was feeling kinda scared but there was a tv with sesame street playing. I think at the time it played that segment with ball rolling down an obstacle course. It was enough to keep my attention so it was pretty comforting. My mom also used to turn on the tv when I was a kid to wake me up and oftentimes sesame street would be playing. I remember feeling at the time that I was too old for sesame street but I wouldnt change the channel and actually would tend to watch as I got ready. I think I was particularly fond of The Count’s segments, Id say he was my favorite muppet from the time. Anywho, sorry for the trip down felt filled memory lane. Just been thinking!

Ferengi arent an antisemetic charicature and also arent so ragingly sexist. They still are a very diff culture from the federation and that is still used as a very cool and interesting discussion about the federation's imperialistic tendencies

things we need to stop doing:

stop picking and chosing the things we like/deem acceptable about a culture/race/gender/sexuality, particularly aesthetically (beyond basic morals like "don't hurt anyone"). no more refining and reducing what's "acceptable" or "good". ex: dont say "im not racist. black people are beautiful. but only if theyre light-skinned" or "i love all women but only if they do(nt) follow prescribed gender norms” (fun fact: you can say these things through your actions so be careful and considerate of more than just what you say). stop picking and chosing what we take as "fact". ex: do not try poking holes in science to disprove evolution/other theories only to turn around and use it to try and bolster your argument as it suits you. actually think critically, think through that confirmation bias. stop taking the desire to end the struggles of people who arent you as a personal attack. ex: woman: "i, as a woman, suffer from certain social behaviors that are deemed acceptable by many men and i would very much like these behaviors to be deemed unacceptable" man: "bUT I DoNT DO THAT STOP ATTACKING ME nOT All meN WOMEN JUST WANT A MATRIARCHY" (if you dont think this happens because you dont do it/havent seen it and are quite ready to defend with "not all men" or "ive never had this happen to me" or similar, please reconsider and try catching the point). Do not think experiences begin and end with you, you do not know everything, you do not feel everything & its important to truly hear people when they speak of their struggles (and when they say "stop doing that to me", even if they say it as a group, you better stop!!!). IF YOU, REGARDLESS OF GENDER, SEXUALITY, SKIN COLOR, RELIGION OR SOCIAL STATUS, SEE IT AND DONT STOP IT THAT IS LIKE DOING IT YOURSELF. IF YOU DO IT STOP, APOLOGIZE, AND ANALYZE YOUR WAY OF THINKING. YOUR PRIDE WILL NOT ONLY NOT TAKE A BLOW, BUT WILL SWELL WITH THE SATISFACTION THAT YOURE BEING CONSIDERATE AND CRITICALLY THINKING. END UNETHICAL SOCIAL NORMS NOW. ITS REALLY QUITE SIMPLE.
