Finally, they were getting that promised beer together. Thankfully, Gladiolus hadn’t found himself incapacitated since their first meeting when Lyla had saved his skin. If it wasn’t for her bravery and prowess, he figured he either wouldn’t be here or would be permanently worse for wear.
A beer wasn’t nearly enough to thank her but, it was a start. Lestaullum was still dark as anything was these days but, it wasn’t all bad. Out of all the cities still standing it was the one with the most normalcy to it. They were able to scrounge up a couple beers each and found a nice place to sit and watch the sky mostly in silence.
When she leaned in, he didn’t stop her. While there was a moment, a fleeting thought of Cor’s gonna kick my ass. It went away as quickly as it had crossed his mind. He was thirty-three, The days weren’t coming any faster and without his former comrades there was something he’d never let come off his chest. He was lonely.
Lyla was a fierce, strong, beautiful woman. He’d be lying if he’d said he hadn’t given her a second glance. Or a third, or a fourth. He’d wanted to kiss her when she’d saved him but, it was out of place and too bold.
But, now she was going for it. And he was going to take advantage of a situation he’d so longed for. One hand pressed against her cheek while the other curled itself in her long hair. A kiss that was likely meant to be quick and sweet, full of question of question of if he wanted to kiss back had quickly gotten it’s answer. He didn’t settle for one kiss, he kept pulling her back in for another, each a little longer and a little deeper than the last. And when he pulled back at last, his eyes were alight with a fiery desire.
“We need to do much more of that.” His husky voice growled out.
And there was nothing that she would have needed more than that, sitting on the rooftop watching how the strong lights shot their rays into the dark sky, as they could hear the people's voices far away, each on their business. Feeling the warm breeze make its way between those buildings full of life and people surviving the best they could to that hostile world, outside the wall of light and metal that surrounded the city.
Was right there where she became aware of her inner conflict, spending so much time fighting daemons, travelling, living on edge to ensure that civilians could have a “better life” in the middle of darkness. Used to forget that she was also an actual human being that needed those emotions, she fought so hard to keep locked.
Acting like nothing could scare her by being under an unbreakable control of her emotions, like a soldier would.
But she could never have imagined that Gladio, could give her the safety her soul needed to finally connect with the woman she was and realise how lonely she was feeling since… forever. Is not that she didnt noticed time ago, how handsome he was, she did noticed; His ferocity, strength and moral, how loyal and committed he was to his duty. Liked his way of thinking and how he carried himself out there and this is what made her lose all composure when sitting side by side, drinking.
Something clicked and thanks to that strange capacity of pulling her out of her inner trench, decided that it was worth it, he was worth it. A man of honor and braveness.
Reached his lips for a kiss, without any word in the middle. Just like that, straight and without shame, her hands cupped his strong neck and slid her fingers down his broad shoulders and chest as her lips answered each kiss with the same desire, speaking all what was needed to be known with each sigh and velvety sound escaping her mouth against his. Feeling those electrified shivers over her already warm skin smelling of a soft cinnamon like fragrance, side smiling to his words said in that wild husky and low voice.
Her soft fingers of one hand moved through his dark hair slowly, as her free one caressed his lips- Certainly… -muttered before stealing another kiss from his lips, this time biting down his lower lip- lets go inside… -suggested as she nudged her nose with his, standing up awaiting for him to do the same, to hold one of his hands and guide him to her apartment in the same rooftop they were, walking in and closing the door behind them before pulling him to capture his lips again, with an even more deep and fierce kiss. Allowing her mind to drift in all the sensations exploding at the same time.
The apartment was almost like all the others in Lestallum, with a small kitchen near the entrance, a little living room and just in front a bed, with its own balcony that looked over the rest of the buildings and a single door to the bathroom. Simple.
