October on This One Wall
A new exhibition has appeared on on This One Wall.
This month we are showcasing the Colchester Film Festival, an international film festival dedicated to discovering and showcasing the best filmmaking talent from around the world. The weekend event also hosts a series of workshops and masterclasses giving audiences an insight into the creative process behind film production, and to inspire the next generation of filmmakers. The festival starts in two weeks time, running from Friday 18 - Sunday 20th October at firstsite.
The programme (featured on the wall) boasts 40 short films selected from over 1500 entries, including world, European and UK premieres.
The work was created by the festivals resident graphic designer Joe Stone. The prints are a mixture of still from films featured at the fest and information panels with the timetable, details on the festival, and the 48 hour film challenge - starting this weekend!
Next month will be taken over by some vintage loving ladies. I'm on the hunt for photos of local ladies & gents in vintage gear so if you have some snaps of your grandparents, great great grandparents in Colchester wearing some snazzy retro threads please let me know.
The work went up this evening so make sure you pop by this week to check out a brand new show.
Sumi Ink Club @ This One Wall
We host Sumi Ink Club once a month, on the last Friday from 7 - 9pm. You simply grab a brush, pour some ink and get involved with a collaborative 'doodle' workshop. Held by our flexible member and illustrator Rob Lock, the group get together to produce large drawings in an informal and fun evening.
The bright colourful wall to the side of the building, now know as This One Wall, said goodbye to our resident illustrator Matt Keeling‘s locally inspired prints. It has now welcomed a Sumi Ink Club exhibition curated by Rob Lock.
The work displayed is the result of our evening collaborative illustration workshop. The pieces are a response to This One Wall's current theme ‘memories’, which you can read more about here.
This One Wall had a quick chat with Rob to find out a bit more about the exhibition, and the club. Enjoy.
We'd also like to thank Colchester Institute School of Art and Design who supply the paper each month!
