It's not like that Greninja can read minds, Shadow. She can say such positive, encouraging things but in the end, it's a comforting lie at best. They don't know what Alex thinks. They don't know what Alex thinks of you, if they think of you that way at all. You're afraid to know Alex doesn't think the same of you. Heck, could such a confession even cause him to try and avoid you, becoming uncomfortable around you? The more we ask 'what's the worst that could happen,' the worse it gets. Best not.

Shadow: “I-I… don’t know what I would do if Alex began avoiding me…”

He shudders at the thought.
