After Lucina had denied her request to leave England earlier than planned, Anya had been trying to find ways to keep herself occupied during her stay. Much of the castle and grounds had already been explored and there wasn’t anything new to discover. She’d become so desperate for something new to do she’d actually agreed to sit down with her sister and help her make important decisions regarding Denmark.
The girls had made arrangements to discuss everything over tea, and Anya had waited almost half an hour before a servant came by to tell her that Lucina wouldn’t be coming until much later, because something else that needed her attention had come up. Not wanting perfectly good tea to go to waste, Anya stayed by herself to drink it and be with her thoughts. Unfortunately her mind wandered back to her last encounter with the French prince. She mentally kicked herself as she thought about how rude it had been to leave so abruptly, especially since it was only because she had let a minor comment get to her. She had enjoyed her time otherwise.
She saw a flurry of movement out of the corner of her eye and she turned her head just in time to see a familiar figure plop down in the chair next to hers. A small flutter of happiness filled her stomach, though she wasn’t sure why. But with things as they were, she’d never admit she was glad to see him. “Yes, you can join me,” She said instead, the answer to the question he never asked.
