So, I meant to make this post earlier, but... yeah. Today, November 20, is Transgender Day of Remembrance. Today is the day that we remember all of the trans* people who lost their lives to violence for simply being who they are. I was going to write something poignant about how we shouldn't have to go through this, but, I can't think of anything witty and, well, yeah. My thoughts to all of the people who lost loved ones. Someday, we won't have to go through this anymore.

Bravo, I'm very proud. :D The Dork. Dear opponents of gay marriage, Adam and Steve are going to wake up tomorrow morning, just like every other morning, but tomorrow, they're going to start making plans for their wedding. Guess what? It's not going to affect you, except, you might see Steve in that flowery robe that morning. Two guys getting married will not cause a swarm of locusts, plagues, or any of the other things you keep saying. Relax. Marriage is about love, no matter the gender of the people involved. You all keep talking about traditional marriage, and to be honest, I'm not sure you know what that means. Traditional marriage means no interracial marriage, no inter-faith marriage, no non-virginal marriages. I could go on. But, I won't. Perhaps, in the future, you can think about this and realize what other people do in their personal lives has no effect on your life. The Dork. Dear remaining states, See above. The Dork. Dear Activists, See the letter to NY. The Dork. Dear everyone, Gay marriage is legal in a handful of states now. But, let's make one thing clear: we still have a big pink elephant in the room. It's called ENDA (the Employment Non-Discrimination Act). We still need to get that passed. It's called H.R. 1397, and the last action on it (April 15), was a referral to the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor and Pensions. When it comes up again, make sure to contact your elected representative and let them know you want it passed. Please? The Dork.
Severely lacking services, or, why if I hope to transition, I can't do it here
There are two PP locations in my home town, within somewhat easy access. Looking at their services list, I can't help but feel a little down. Rochester, my home town and where I live, is said to have a pretty vibrant LGBT community. Yet, when looking for services for transitional purposes, I find maybe two therapists. This is, to say the least, saddening. Perhaps, then, Rochester has more of an LGB community and we transfolks are left in the dirt (as seems to be the case in these sorts of things). Which brings me to another thought; I've been entertaining the prospect of leaving the city for some time now, but maybe I need to be a little more serious about it. Between most of my family* living here (they don't know, and probably never will), and the lack of transitional resources, the appeal of moving somewhere, anywhere other than here is great.
*My mother's family seems to be comprised of abrasive personalities and people who like queer bashing jokes. Near frothing and fuming happened this past Christmas over my cousin's definition of what a faggot is (and my grandfather's agreement). My father's family might be better, but I'd rather not chance it.
Queery tales
So, I started writing a little story about a princess who yearns to be a prince. Um. Yeah.
Queer fairy tales. That needs to happen. This is exactly why I need to improve my writing.
