She’d ran - barefoot - through pitch black halls in an attempt to get to his side. Maria had woken to a shadow in the window of her room before it’d disappeared just as quickly as she’d seen it. She’d been stirring for hours, unable to rest and the moment she’d gotten up to get a drink - there they’d sat. Waiting. In an instant she was on her feet, trying to be as quiet as she could, not to disturb anyone else. She’d struggled pulling the chamber’s doors open and had ended up banging on them with clenched fists until the male was able to open them to greet her. Being in his arms was secure, it was safe. A string of incoherent words leave her as she attempts to collect herself, despite the tears that stained her cheeks. “Someone is here. They lurk outside the palace. You are not safe, George.”
