Sometimes the hills are real and not a metaphor and they have names like Cowie’s hill, Botha’s Hill, Drummond, Inchanga, Polly Shorts. Even those hills which are like mountains for legs that have been running since the crackle of the crow at 5:00am, have to be conquered. The board meeting will start gradually. The executives will be united until 50km. There will be casualties that will result in resignations. But I’ve been trained to keep going no matter how hard it is. Deep down I don’t know how to give up. And that’s why when I get to Camperdown, I will remind myself that: There will be mountains, that I will have to climb (and I will still be climbing). And there will be battles (mental and otherwise) that I will have to fight. But victory or defeat, it’s up to me to decide (it can’t be anything else except victory). But how can I expect to win, if I never try (and try I will) I will remind myself that: I just can't give up now. I've come too far from where, I started from (approximately 65km away).
