From the flat of my back, I reach upward to the symphonic masquerade that only prime cut is spiced with. Digits forced adrift to the jingle-jangle of each cry coaxed from the catacombs and expelled through the cathedral, I slurp the layers of the day and breathe salty each ambling, percussive hymn for high tide. Her midnight vignette glows colors I cannot name, pleasantries that camouflage the nature of the beast, voracious, ravenous. I watch each wave through flush stained-glass, and when the sun rises, I sigh.
