Ever wonder why fathers fear when their daughters start dating? Ever wonder why brothers don't want their friends dating their sisters? It's because they KNOW. So, I've been super freaking excited about the new Sailor Moon series that's going to be coming out soon, so I've been doing research on the series because I haven't watched it since I was a little girl and wanted to refresh my knowledge of the series. I was doing a little googling on all the individual sailor scouts when I started looking up Sailor Venus. 

I don't know when this happened, I don't know how it happened, I don't know why it happened, but it isn't right. Some pervert out there animated a pornographic video depicting Sailor Venus being, under absolutely no uncertain terms, gang raped.

Call me naive, but I don't watch very much porn. But I'd be about a hundred times more naive than that if I didn't know Sailor Moon wasn't one of the most sexualized anime series out there. Hell, it sexualizes itself and has from the start, to me that's not really the big deal here. To me, the big deal is that this video is very specifically a rape. 

The two males raping Sailor Venus in this video are disgustingly old and obese men, but of course they have enormous elephantine cocks. Venus is also typically depicted as being unwilling at first, then begging for it halfway through the rape. Gag.

I may be wrong and please correct me if I am, but I'm pretty sure Sailor Moon isn't public domain, and I'm even more sure that Naoko Takeuchi would never agree to let anyone use any of her characters like this if she knew... It's out there on the internet now, so it will probably never be gone, but it bugged me so much I feel the need to say something about it anyways.

I think I know why the people who made that video picked Sailor Venus. More than any of the other scouts, she truly is the anathema of the ugliness of rape. She is the soldier of love and beauty, she is a kick-ass take-charge leader type, in the manga it is she who leads the Sailor Scouts more than Sailor Moon. This woman parades around as a celebrity by day and a masked superhero by night, at the same time! The "real" Sailor Venus has taken down monsters a hundred times more disgusting than the lard-ass wannabe rapists depicted assaulting her in that video.

I know, we're probably never going to completely get rid of rape porn. To some extent, I don't want to, as much as I hate it personally. There are studies that suggest that indulging in this porn makes men less likely to act on their impulses in real life, and as much as I hate seeing an awesome character being completely bastardized and violated to boot, I of course would rather see that happen than to a real life person.

But I just have this to say to the people who made this video and those who enjoy it... I understand there isn't much out there in the way of mental health care, but you need to realize you need help, you need to realize this isn't healthy even if it's just pixels on a screen. You are indulging in your sickness instead of trying to cure it. You are actively feeding your cancerous thoughts instead of combating them. If you can't find someone else to help you, at least try to help yourself before you hurt someone else, because if you don't, the next time you watch Sailor Moon, picture yourself as one of the monsters.

Actually Men aren't always objectified as a power fantasy, usually male characters are "loveable idiots" or someone with a lower intelligence than his female counterpart.

It always struck me that men actually might benefit from the “bumbling idiot” stereotype. In very many of the dysfunctional heterosexual relationships I’ve observed, men basically only work then come home and do nothing, and women do a majority of the actual work and men use this learned or feigned helplessness to get women to do everything for them. They’re socialized this way, I think. I married this very equality talking, sensitive, feminist-ally, politically correct kind of man and yet the day we got back from our honeymoon, my ex husband suddenly became an infant who no longer knew how to operate an iron, pack a grocery bag, balance the budget, take a pee without splattering the entire bathroom, flush the toilet, cook his own meals, return phone calls, put his own dishes in the sink before they turned moldy, or even drop letters off at the post office.

The bumbling idiot stereotype doesn’t hurt men. Men are not being denied jobs or health care or legal rights because of being seen as bumbling idiots. They benefit from the stereotype because it means that women do everything.
