1. How did you first get into K-Pop?
I first got into kpop in 8th grade after being a huge fan of anime and jpop and jrock. A friend gave a me Epik High's Pieces: Part 1, and I fell in love with the music. As a Korean adoptee, it inspired me to get more in touch with my "roots" and I have been obsessed with kpop ever since!
2. Have you ever changed ultimate biases? If so, who to who and why?
Oh I'm constantly torn between Donghae and Kyuhyun! I always flip flop like crazy. I mean Donghae is my cute fishy but Kyuhyun's voice is like liquid chocolate... I suppose it's because of their different personalities; Donghae is more playful and a dancing machine, while Kyuhyun tends to be more on the quiet secretly-evil-and-plotting side and a master singer.
3. Who is your favorite K-Pop group?
Very hard question to answer. I would say Epik High because their music has helped me so much through the years. Otherwise it'd be Big Bang or 2NE1, they sound so different than a lot of the kpop scene.
4. What is your favorite era of you favorite K-Pop group?
For Epik High, it's Pieces Part 1, just because it was the first kpop I'd ever listened to or Epilogue, before they went on hiatus. For Big Bang, it was their 2011 comeback album. In their recent stuff, I think they are exploring new styles but it's starting to sound similar or like American pop, all about money, women, clothes, fancy stuff, etc.
5. Who’s comeback this past month was your favorite?
I've been so excited for 2NE1's comeback! It's about time they released new songs! I really like both Falling in Love and Do You Love Me. I know some people are skeptical but I'm just glad Dara is getting more screentime.
6. Which idol do you think you would get along with best as a friend (no romantic relation)?
Honestly, (even though I do think he's such a cutie), Hanbyul from LedApple. He is the biggest dork and I think we have similar senses of humor. He also feels like the down to earth type of person that you can sit and have real conversations with as well as run around like a 5 year old pretending to be a dinosaur.
7. What is your favorite music video (does not have to be from your favorite group)?
This one is really hard too. I've always loved Epik High's Love Love Love, but I also love TaeYang's Wedding Dress. That music video actually makes me tear up every time.
8. What song reminds you of yourself and why?
2NE1's Can't Nobody. It makes me feel unstoppable, and I like to think of myself as a strong person and different from the rest. Sort of the whole "Can't nobody hold us down" thing. It's also super groovy.
9. Is there any song that changed your opinion on something or opened your eyes to something?
2NE1's Lonely. I was in an abusive and unhealthy relationship at the time and when I read the lyrics, it helped me realize what I knew in my heart, that I needed to say goodbye.
10. Do you watch any K-Dramas (J-Dramas, T-Dramas, etc…)?
Oh my goodness yes! I love kdramas! My favorites are You're Beautiful, Protect the Boss and I've just started Operation Proposal!
11. What do you love most about K-Pop other than just the music?
I love how it brings people together. Like any community, it brings people closer and I've made a lot of friends from it. It also allows me to feel closer to my culture and be able to share it with other people, so it's like sharing a little piece of me. Plus the fandom community on tumblr is just so lovely! <3
