Fandom related questions: M, N, O :)
M: A person who got you into a fandom and what fandom they pulled you in to.
@shiparker. She came up with the idea of having the Philip Lombard character from And Then There Were None (played by Aidan Turner) meeting up with a character from the Poirot universe named Alice Cunningham (played by Eleanor Tomlinson) from The Labours of Hercules. It has since become an addiction and obsession, thanks to the brilliant writings of @rainpuddle13
N: Your favorite fandom (for the people; not the thing you fangirl over).
Aside from the current fandom I’m writing in, I would have to say the Harry Potter fandom back in 2002. It was the very first fandom I ever delved into to the point where I felt compelled to write. In doing so, I met many remarkable people who have remained some of my dearest friends ever since.
O: Choose a song at random, what ship does it remind you of?
I’ve currently got a song branded in my brain because of a piece I’m writing called Cottage by the Copse. The Police “Wrapped Around Your Finger”. It reminds me of a ship started based on a conversation with a bunch of folks here about young Ross Poldark’s sexual awakening. He is with an original character named Marjorie Trengrouse. I hear that song, I see them in my head…doing all KINDS of things. *wicked smile*
Thank you very much for asking, @thistle-brook! I love doing these kinds of things! :-)
:) and .3.
YAYYY THANKYOU!! Sorry for the late reply! I’m finally on a computer yay!
:) : name top 5 pet peeves.
…JUST FIVE???? Hahhaah! :D
-The sound of styrofoam. Anyone who has seen me go into one of my styrofoam rages will understand. I CANNOT. CAN NOOOTTTTTTTT stand the sound of styrofoam. I go to very extreme lengths to avoid hearing it at all costs. WHY MUST THINGS BE WRAPPED IN IT.
-Smudging ink. Happens to me all the time and it’s annoying I just wish it would stop.
-Things that keep on falling after I have picked them up. Okay, let me explain. You know when you pick up something, and put it back?…BUT THEN IT FALLS AGAIN?? And then you pick it up but it keeps on falling and its just so annoying LIKE JUST STAY THERE DAMMIT. Yes. Its just really irritating for me. I know this is really wierd, but it just really annoys me. HAHahahhah XD
- Stupid office antics. Anyone who works in an office will understand this. Stupid gossip, talking behind peoples backs, being an asshole to someone because you think you can…I seriously just don’t understand the point. You all know the feels.
-Doll abuse. Okay now this of course is pretty much wierd to everyone else, but whenever I see people shoving dolls onto shelves in a terrible manner I just about cry. I collect dolls, and the conditions of boxes are pretty important. I cry whenever my dolls fall on the ground.
So yes, I know these are probably kinda silly…
.3. : name 10 things that are really cute to you.
JUST TEN?????? JUST TENNNNN????
Okay, well here we go!
Accents of all kinds.
Beady eyed things.
The little thing my cat Cleo does where she follows you up the stairs or something and then plops down and wants a belly rub.
My other cat Cali’s baby meows and her inability to sit properly and just kinda…slouches everywhere.
Fuzzy things. Just all kinds of fuzzy.
Smol things.
Baby animals.
My boyfriend in his fluffy housecoat.
Any small gesture of love.
Animals in sweaters.
The list goes on. and on. AND ON. :D
Thank you! :D
For the mini fics, if you want: Aidean + things you said under the stars and in the grass? :))
This went differently than expected, but I hope you like it nevertheless :-)
things you said underthe stars and in the grass
“Did you know the Milky Way consists of a supposed 3billion stars?”
Aidan looks up into the nightly sky, and even thoughDean can’t see it, he knows his eyes are wide and dark and full of wonder. He soundsthoughtful, philosophic even. Dean has always admired this ability. To go from deeplaughter to heavy tears, from naughty to nice, from a silly little thing noolder than a child to a soul that talks like it has seen empires fall. Peopleunderestimate Aidan a lot when it comes to that. They think he’s all made ofpuppy eyes and smiles, or of frowns and thunderstorms, but really there’s somuch more behind all that.
“It does?” Dean runs his fingers through the line of softhair between Aidan’s belly button and his crotch. There’s a shiver runningthrough that gorgeous body, a slight lifting of hips.
“Mhm. Its oldest known star is 13.7 gigayears old. That’s 13.7 billion years. How are weeven supposed to comprehend that?”
Dean can feel the amazement that runs through him inthe beating of Aidan’s pulse against his skin. They are naked in the dewygrass, stretched out on the plain behind their house. They’ve made love for hoursunder the stars, because it’s too hot to stay in the house at this time of theyear, and no one will ever find them here in the deep grass between the riverand their home.
“We’re just a blink of the eyes compared to the age ofthe universe. Everything we strive for, all our lives – it’s so insignificantwhen you think about it. Who will even remember we existed in another billionyears or two?”
The grass tickles Dean’s naked feet just like Aidan’shair tickles his hand. He shifts closer, kisses his neck, kisses his mouth andhis cheek.
“Did you know there are approximately 100,000 bladesof grass per square metre?”
Aidan turns his head and looks at him, questioning. “Yeah?”
“Mhm. And it grows an average two to six inches amonth, from the same seed, again and again, even when it’s mown. It just keepsgrowing again. Always has been, always will be. Even if this area here is goingto be flattened and built over after we are gone, the earth always holds grassseeds that keep growing and finding their way to the surface. That means, evenwhen we’re gone, when all of this is gone, this speck of earth here will alwaysremember that we made love here on a starry night, 13.7 billion years from now.”
Somehow,that’s a comforting thought.
send me a ship and one of these and i’ll write a mini fic.
Aidean, unless you've ready done it? :)
“Yes,” Dean nodded. “O'Gorman, two persons.”
@thistle-brook replied to your photoset “Ten Deano pics from tonight. Not the best quailty since I forgot my...”
Awesome pics!! That must have been great to be there and listen to Deano talk about his work!! :) Also - he smells great?? Can you elaborate, please?? :D
He’s just such a nervous little kitten^^ It gets better as time passes, but he was really nervous during the introductory speech. As for the smell, I can’t tell you a lot, just that it’s a really nice aftershave. He wore the same at Hobbitcon 2 during the photo session; my friend’s Fíli cloak still smells of it ^^
Writer asks
Because thistle-brook, milliegirl20, and damnitfili all asked at the same and with some overlapping requests, I’m putting them into one post. Thanks for asking!
3. Have you ever written a chapter/scene that made you cry? Which one(s)?
I usually cry over other people’s writing, but I did make myself a little sniffly with the locket scene in Family Matters. From the comments I received on that fic, it turned on the faucets for a lot of folks. And Kili’s breakdown over his parents in His Pilgrim Soul was pretty tear-jerking too. I seldom write sad, so those are the ones I truly remember.
7. Do you have a favorite story among your body of work?
As of right now, I think I might go with In the Halls of Waiting. I was quite happy with how that came out. It was the ending, if we stuck to canon, that Thorin and the lads deserved, and the one the Professor should have given them. They died in honor, and should have gotten the peace they had fought so hard for. If His Pilgrim Soul goes according to plan, though, I may end up with that being my favorite. But I do like them all for different reasons, just as a mother should.
8. Do you have a story that consistently challenges you? (or has challenged you in the past?)
My only ongoing story at the moment is His Pilgrim Soul, and since it’s my first long-format fic it’s a consistent challenge, making sure my timeline works, remembering details from previous chapters, etc. A recent challenge came with A Pirate’s Life--my first real action scenes, which by the comments appear to have turned out quite well!
12. Do you sneak personal references into any of your stories? Would you care to share some examples?
I think all writers do,consciously or not. One in particular I remember was a character talking about losing someone close to them, dreaming about that person and waking up from the dream missing them, and eventually realizing during the dream that it WAS a dream, and waking up knowing it was ok to let go. That did happen to me, after my mother passed. Little bits of me show up all over the place, in movie, book and music references particularly. I don’t ‘write myself’ into my stories, but life does spill over. Most recently was a mention in His Pilgrim Soul of Fili’s favorite actor being James Cagney--he’s been my celeb crush since I was four, and I’ve never grown out of it.
And that’s it!
