It's hard to believe how much time has already passed. Though it's been a few years since his friend's death, Thoma often finds that it still feels as if he'd only just learned the news the day before - about how a lone samurai had approached the throne and demanded a duel, and the fatal outcome that had resulted. How another young swordsman had appeared just as the killing blow had been struck and had escaped with the deceased's dying Vision in hand, marking him as a fugitive as well.
"You certainly made quite the exit," the Kamisato's housekeeper murmurs as he kneels in front of the sword that's been left as a marker for his fallen friend. At his side, a snow-white cat brushes up against his side, and Thoma smiles down at the little creature, scratching between her ears. He'd made sure to bring some fish down for her, though the feline thankfully doesn't appear to be malnourished. She must be doing well for herself, even as she continues to watch over her master's resting place.
He likes to think that Tomo might be watching over her as well in turn.
"I brought some sake this time," he continues, turning his attention back to the silent blade as he produces a set of small cups from his bag. He fills them both before setting the second down just in front of the marker in offering, a soft chuckle leaving him. "It's been a while since we drank together, so I thought we might be due for it while I catch you up."
Taking the other cup into his hand, Thoma sips at the rice wine, the subtle floral scent reminding him of days when the two of them had shared drinks while overlooking the vast ocean that surrounded Narukami. Back then, he'd never considered that a day might come where he'd be unable to enjoy those peaceful rendezvous with his good friend.
Had he known what the future would hold, Thoma would have made certain to savor them like the sake they'd passed between them.
"... you're very missed, but... we're all getting on just fine, in our own ways. I don't think it'll ever be the same without you though..."
