The owners of downtown sports bar, barleymash wish to respond to the mischaracterizations of the incident that occurred at their restaurant on December 29, 2013 involving San Diego Chargers player, Thomas Keiser. Media reports have stated that there was an “altercation that eventually turned into a fight.” barleymash has proof that this was, instead, an unprovoked, vicious assault by Mr. Keiser on a barleymash employee. Mr. Keiser and his party departed the restaurant after one of the individuals in his group was asked by the security staff to leave. Mr. Keiser subsequently re-entered the restaurant. He inconspicuously followed an employee to an area outside the restaurant’s office, where he sat and waited for several minutes. When the employee emerged from the office, Mr. Keiser ambushed and brutally assaulted him. Mr. Keiser ran, but was detained by security personnel until police arrived and arrested Mr. Keiser. The owners remain extremely upset about this incident, as barleymash is not the type of venue where incidents of this nature occur. barleymash is a sports restaurant geared toward food, sports fans and families. The owners and staff wish to stress their ongoing support of the San Diego Chargers organization.
