It’s been awhile! Rest assured, I am still working on the comic. Meet Calvin, one of several original characters for Thomas Beyond!

Calvin’s basis and direct inspiration for his characterization was based off the mannerisms of the USATC S160 class of steam engines. I highly recommend looking them up and researching them to perhaps see my train of thought when I was crafting this character.

Calvin is NOT set to debut in Thomas Beyond’s first major arc: Sudric Storm. He will be showing up at a later date after that storyline has concluded. :)

‘Thomas: Beyond!’ Update 8/21/25

Hey all, Maymay/Coala here regarding the continued hiatus of Thomas Beyond and what the future of the comic holds. Just want to clarify and assure everyone that it’s not cancelled or anything, I still plan on seeing it through! The comic has just been difficult to prioritize for a number of reasons, burnout and real-life priorities being by-far the biggest culprit. I’m looking to move into my own place by the start 2026 and simply won’t have a whole lot of free time available as I once did. I cannot guarantee how regularly active I’ll be on Tumblr or ComicFury within the next few months, but I’ll try to respond to any questions or comments I notice when I DO log in.

Thanks for reading, hopefully more positive news to come next time. Life’s just kicking my ass right now.

Happy (belated) Free Comic Boom Day, everyone! 🎉

Here’s the final cover for Thomas: Beyond! #1, “Station Pilot”. As I previously mentioned, I planned to get the issue out by last Saturday, but I wasn’t able to complete it in time. I’m not sure when it’ll be ready, but stay tuned, as I’m still actively working on it!

In light of recent events, I would just like to reassure anyone here that Thomas Beyond and any material tied to it was very proudly forged together without the usage of A.I. generation. I have a strong, strong stance against generative A.I. and I personally promise that no such thing will ever have ANY sort of influence on my comic. This thing has been my passion project for years and I take great pride in it being my baby from start to finish.

THOMAS: BEYOND! ‘The Great Sudric Storm’

One of my biggest focuses of this comic is to have multi-issue long story arcs and narratives. The first one I have planned is an extremely loose retelling of the basic events that happened in the Thomas film ‘Calling All Engines’….

THE GREAT SUDRIC STORM!

Synopsis: The Island of Sodor is hit with one of the worst storms it’s ever had in recorded history, laying waste and chaos to its towns, cities, and local infrastructure. It’s all hands on deck for the North Western Railway to restore their routes as quickly as possible and aid first-responders to help anyone still caught in the crossfire of the storm’s aftermath. With all members of the Steam Team out of action and Thomas stranded in the bustling city of Vicarstown, Sir Topham Hatt must rely on his many other engines to take charge and call upon new allies to get any amount of funding they’ll need. Will they be able to rebuild their rails in time? Or will the Isle of Sodor fade into a blank spot on the map?

10/4/2025 Beyond Continuity Disclaimer.

Before anyone asks… no. Nothing from the newly-revealed early scripts for season 5/Thomas & the Magic Railroad are canon to Thomas Beyond unless specifically stated otherwise.

The majority of Beyond’s story was written with the finalized episodes of Thomas’ television series in mind, so I will be using those as the basis for the setting and history of my comic. Everything that’s recently been revealed on the internet is irrelevant due to it getting axed from the final release.

The only finished episode that is non-canonical to Beyond is Season 5’s ‘Toby’s Discovery’. I will elaborate more as to why that episode doesn’t happen as it was presented when the time is right!

This week has been going along rather SWIMMINGLY! (ba-dum tsh)

I’m all seriousness, things are alright. Since my last update post I parted ways from my job and I’m now in college again. Progress is very slow as the majority of my free time has been absorbed for my studies and artwork outside of the comic. I will keep you all posted. I never stop thinking about Beyond and I so desperately want to share my ideas and stories to the fandom. It lives in my head rent-free 24/7. I’m trying to get it out of my noggin, I swear. More to come!
