Richard Chamberlain starred in “Dr. Kildare” (1961–1966). He later starred in films, and quite a few successful mini-series such as “Shōgun” (1980) and “Thornbirds” (1983).

Chamberlain was outed as gay by the French magazine in December 1989, but he did not public ally announce it until his autobiography in 2003.
