all of the special gadgets that Thorn uses are made by his brother Destrugon (for the few that happend to have read my first fic for the spacerider AU, yes, he’s alive, but that’s a story for another day) and his friend Nicey Micey.
Let’s start with the strange accessories on his ‘wing spikes’, the ’protector rings’. An idea that popped up when my sibling mentioned something along the lines of ’his wings look vulnerable’, so I came up with an idea of a small ring that would create a forcefield around Thorn’s wings whenever he holds his hand against the 'half-leaf' shaped symbol on his neck. For the obvious reasons (me trying not to make Thorn a Garry Stue) This shield cannot withstand bullets and powerful elemental powers for long periods of time, it’s mostly made for Thorn to be able to use his wings as a shield and not just as another way to move around.
Thorn’s symbol, that you can see on his belt, is a sewing needle. Sewing is something he did since he was a child. Thorn sorts his damaged clothes into three categories: ‘Could be fixed’, ‘could be used for other things’ and ‘into the bin you go’. This means that a lot of his casual clothes have some sort of patches on them. Sewing is a way for him to clear his head and he is quite skillful at it, so don’t be shy to drop by and ask for a fix.
Then they’re Thorn’s belt bags, here are some facts about them:
1) You may notice that there are two teeny-tiny circles on one of Thorn’s belt bags. They’re actually badges meant to resemble his past teammates, Sweet Bee and Misato (OCS belong to @goldenrose3), and remind him of their past shenanigans together.
2) he stores his goggles in his longest belt bag hidden behind his back. If you squint real hard, you'll see it on the left, hidden behind Thorn's back.
3) And lastly: ‘Multi-tool’, Nicey’s and Destrugon’s proudest invention. This small hexagon prism gadget lets its user choose from a circular holographic list of tools that pops up when the user is holding the green touchpad in the middle. After the user chooses their tool, the tool pops out upon clicking on the hologram of the tool and holding the two dark buttons on each side of the gadget at the same time. He carries three types of these gadgets around in his belt bags (Large, medium and small). Of course, they can’t generate every tool, but it’s a great thing to have in case of an emergency. They are stored in the right and left belt bags.
