Yeah, I have four main beefs with Gen V, and the starters pretty much not being above “average” compared to the alternatives is the first one

(The others being how horribly late Larvesta and Deino evolve, the game being so linear that it’s literally a non-connecting line, and that Cheren/Bianca don’t have much variation in their teams until the very end)
