THE BRIG - @thoughtiwasalive
He’d done it for her. Hadn’t he? Of course he had. He did everything for her. But - but - but - Something wasn’t adding up. His brain felt like it was twisting and turning and he couldn’t thinks straight and oh god, it hurt, but he had to figure it out - for Kara. For Kara. For Kara.
The comms. They were on comms. Kara, and Thomas, and Jones, and - Ensign Rane. She had told Thomas that he was upsetting Kara ( and maybe he was, but not on purpose, no! Never on purpose! ) and that HE DIDN’T CARE. He had wanted to hurt the Ensign, oh yes --- he had wanted to stop her from spreading her lies, stop her from turning Kara against him ( She’d never turn against you, his mind said. She loves you )... then why did he not attack her? Why didn’t he attack Rane?
SHOYA. Oh, no no no no no no no... He’d hurt her. His roommate. Their roommate. He’d hurt her! He had pushed her, and slammed her against the wall, and - and - and --- and now he was in the brig. Starfleet won’t keep you, the voice picked up again. They can’t have officers that attack other officers. It would be foolhardy to think you can stay.
His hands went to his hair and pulled, too hard, it hurts, and he let out a jolt of a scream to silence the voice.
Thomas wasn’t at all sure how long it had been since rough hands had shoved him into the brightly lit cell, or how long it had been since a security officer had come over to him and told him to stop screaming, or I’ll make you!, or how long it would be until he was allowed to see her again, Kara, Kara, Kara...
At the sound of the brig door sliding open, Thomas scurried further into the corner he’d been crouching in. His head was lowered between his bent knees, and he was shaking, he was afraid, he was cold, he was guilty, he was crying ---
His head snapped up when he heard an officer announce a visitor, but upon seeing her - his Kara, she must be so afraid, so disappointed - Thomas immediately buried his head back into his arms, crying all the harder. “Kara, Kara, Kara, Kara...” Each utterance of her name sat between a sob, and his hands once again went to his hair, and pulled.
