Allow me to reintroduce myself...

I'm not sure what re-inspired me to do this. Could be a writing bug. It could be that some content creators I follow are bad news all day every day. Whatever the case, I decided to once again reintroduce myself and tell you signed up for.

My name is nukirk and I love three things: tech, culture and protecting them. Somewhat in that order. What I used to do is blog about racial issues and sad news as What Whites Will Never Know. Now, I want to blog about a lot of other things beyond that.. and less sad news. Too much of that going on. Here's a taste of those things (in no particular order)

How to protect yourself online from the rapidly changing Internet.

Curating posts from other people about what their passionate about.

Why it's important to not be complacency with your digital equipment.

Learning about the current culture environment and how you can help (and no, complaining about it online isn't the only step)

Social commentary about stuff that the news might missed.

Basically, if it's related to tech, blackness, and culture, I'm going to blog about it. Or re-blog about it.

So, stay tuned for more posts.

P.S. - what's with the "for the rest of us" line? Well... some things I post about is to simplify it so it doesn't go over your head. Especially when it comes to tech. I always like to simplify things so that you can learn it without being the geek yourself. Hence "for the rest of us". Hope that clears that up.

Hey, y’all.

I’m going to start posting up more stuff on my original blog @nukirk and they are going to be more of my artistic endeavors within music, poetry, photography and other misc items. 

I’m doing this basically to give @thoughtremixer a more serious, supportive and informative space. Sure, there will be Black excellence posts and some light posts to balance out the sometimes negative vibes.

@nukirk isn’t really a new blog, but I want to post up more artistic items and similar posts that will get lost within @thoughtremixer (also, some of you are REALLY on this “match my blog” hidden rule...) 

So, if you enjoy my personal posts and want to see some magic I do (not the literal kind, but oddly enough, I do perform magic), I encourage you to follow @nukirk and give me a holla.

Oh, as you noticed, I added “w/ nukirk.digi.tal” to the thought.remixer banner because I need people to realize that this is not a team blog, but a side-blog run by one person. 

So, we’re good? Good.

An Up-to-date Knee-Jerker’s Guide to Black History Month

If you’re talking about within facets of Whiteness… in other words, when you add ethnicity to it, you will get a rich history of accomplishments and historical facts. Because Blackness and erasure of a person’s individuality based on skin color, it’s tough for society to treat the two separate. However, if someone wants to represent Whiteness as part of their culture instead of their ethnicity, then you also have to accept the dark history of how Whiteness spread. If anything, Whiteness want to eliminate Blackness and NB-PoC.

In this episode, I created a knee-jerker’s guide to Black History Month... aka “Why is there a Black History Month”. I covered the most asked questions that are more about the title of the month than it is about what we’re doing this actual month for people who just want to scream into the abyss and hope they don’t have to hear an answer.

I also talk about the first Black dentist and why there is still an amazing chance you’ll run into a Black dentist in America.

Now What? Tumblr and I...

Tumblr is currently going through a backlash, thanks to their short notice on the adult content ban. Here's how I'm surviving for the best and/or worse.

Basically, it’s a slightly different version of the same post I made on Tumblr. Just updating with a bit of background information for people who don’t use Tumblr.

About thought.remixer.xtra, curator/creator and disclaimers

This is just an echo from the now updated “About me page”.

My name is nukirk.digi.tal. I run this Tumblr and I talk about social, tech and political awareness. I write commentary from time to time with a bit of comedy and light-hearted posts to break up the seriousness I tend to blog about. I do attempt to educate while at the same time speaking out to my people, for my people.

Brief History

This blog started May 6, 2012 as the Tumblr called “What Whites Will Never Know (W3NK)”, an anonymous awareness blog, where personal opinions are usually backed up with source material. It was an attempt to educated while speaking out to Black people by Black person.

nukirk.digi.tal (stylized in all small letters) broke anonymity at the end of 2012. From then until March 23, 2017, nukirk talked mostly about current events and curate content from other Tumblrs, adding his own two cents from time to time. He also help launched a hashtag call-to-action event on March 6, 2015 called #blackoutday, where W3NK was featured on ABCNews.

W3NK won three consecutive Black Weblog Awards from 2013-2015 (Best Micro-blog in 2013 and Best Tumblr in 2014+2015).

On March 23rd, he decided to retire the W3NK brand and rename the Tumblr to thought.remixer.xtra as an extension of his primary blog.  (Post as to why can be seen here)

I’m currently working on other web projects when I’m not busy working at my job or writing stuff here.

Sometimes, I will reblog items without commentary. When that happens, I just want to hear what others think about it.

I have a video series that I updated sporadically.

I try my best to blog/reblog videos from the original source. I do not reblog videos where the source can’t be traceback.

I blog on a rather inconsistent matter. Some days, I blog nothing, other days, I may blog up to 10 times or more.

Re: Name Change

I was saying stick to it . Words of encouragement not an attack .

Not every one likes mint chocolate fam . You will find the right people to give you the opportunities you deserve soon . Not the ones who want to water you down .

I don’t see it as “an attack” more like “why would this be worth commenting on”.

I’ve been aiming to change my approach with this blog and throughout the last year, I had, switching up the style a bit and such. People want to hire me, but don’t want the brand associated with it. Hence why I was trying to change the name of it the LONG way.

W3NK was a reddit staple, people who searched for me always seem to want to find some sort of “red herring” and such. And then there’s the people who want me to be associated, but at the cost of turning me into a caricature instead of wanting me as I want to be presented.

So, yeah... I changed the name and have been trying to change up even more, talking about social media/internet safety and other interests, including the Blackout, Mental health along with the social/racial commentary and now, the vlogs and so on.

I just trying to lose the misinterpretations of the content, that’s all.

W3NK is becoming a book...

Well... as some of you know, @whatwhiteswillneverknow is temp not taking any questions. Some of you also know that I’m redirecting the active of W3NK’s followers to follow @thoughtremixer and I’m blogging stuff from there while reposting stuff from there to W3NK to make sure that no one is left out. And some of you even know that I’m writing a book. But as far as explanations about the book, I wasn’t so straightforward. 

So, for accountability purposes... (or just release the damn book already) I decided to let you know the road to this book. 

The “Project: Vanilla Questions” (which is NOT the final title of the book) is going to be a resource book that will be written in a Q&A format. This means that instead of a front to back reading, you’ll be able to read it from any page, get answers to the most typical of questions. 

This isn’t a simple “take the best blog posts and put them in the book” but a rewrite of everything. 

The book will be finished by Jan 31, 2017. But when will it be out for public consumption? Well, after writing, there’s going to be a lot of editing done and we need to make sure everything passes the mustard, even the facts. Afterward, it will be put to the presses and then ebooks AND physical copies will be pushed. Once published, the blog will then become support for the book and while some conversations will be launched, it will be based on promoting the book. So, no more BlackoutDay announcements or participation. No more reblogs of other people’s content and making them viral. No more fun posts.

And sadly, more defending. There will always be that.

However, @thoughtremixer will still be the place that @whatwhiteswillneverknow was trying to be for years and more! So, it’s not the end of a blog, but the beginning of something more. 

So with that being said, now that I put up a public notice, this means I better get to work. I’m not going to be posting much for the upcoming days and I hope you guys would take the opportunity to actually... push me to finish this. 

I’ve been saying for years that I will do something and well, the time is here. So, just bare w/ me for a bit and I promise that this will be worth it.

So, if you’re kind of sad about this, I hope you understand that I want to do this and hope I’ll get your support. If you can’t wait, just wait a bit longer. If you’re one of those who said “you been saying this”... yeah, I know. Thanks for your patience.

And if you’re from reddit and you can’t take me seriously... well, now prepare to trash a book that you probably will never read.
