Review: 'Thoughts & Prayers' examines shooter preparedness in the face of political apathy

HBO's documentary looking at the $3-billion active shooter preparedness industry amplifies the seriousness and the banality of the matter.

We tend to understand one of the key reasons that US politicians do pretty much nothing meaningful that would curtail mass shootings or implement actual gun control measures is because of the massive gun lobby. It's pretty much up front and center known that all the money to be made off guns and weapons in this here "land of the free*" is perpetuating our own early deaths and worst of all, making gun violence the #1 killer of kids in the US.

We don't often talk about the $3 billion active shooter preparedness industry which ALSO profits off of our gun-violent culture.

Enter a new doc on HBO Max, Thoughts & Prayers, which deep dives into this depressing and upsetting burgeoning industry. If you're interested and able to watch it, it's worth it. But if you just want to understand the main points and NOT watch it, check out that review at the top of this post.
