What are your characters' thoughts on multi-person relationships?

Happy Thoughts Thursday! This is a new thing for me. It's also Friday for me. Late Friday xD

If this is as romantic, my characters wouldn't care what others do. In general, the romance options of others do not even occur to them as a thing to care about because they don't.

For themselves? Nah brah, they don't even want one person what they gonna do with more.

oooo this question is hard! not really a quote but i do have song lyrics that absolutely jump out at me when I think about my wip Not Your Typical Fairytale (from the Mind Electric):

Thank you for the ask! Sorry for taking so long to get to it! I'm not sure how different my wips's proses are, so I'll just do a summary of all my writings.

Since I talked about Light Casts a Shadow last week, I'm going to talk about Don't Let Me Be Alone today.

For anyone in the Grishaverse fandom, it's pretty obvious where the title comes from.

This is more show heavy than book, and is set during the hunt for the stag. I've thrown back in the scene where Alina asks Mal to kill her if the Darkling gets her. And, since Mal is about to die, seeing how close she is to giving up everything for him, he does as she asks.

Aleksander, however, is not so willing to let her go, and not even death will keep him from her.

(Bit of a spoiler - Mal WILL die. Not because I dislike him, but because the Darkling would not hesitate to kill him without Alina there to stop him).

I've made a start on it, and I can't wait to get it done and posted and see how it all plays out. As per usual, it's one of those ideas that was supposed to be a one-shot, but quickly had more and more ideas added to it.

It's definitely going to be fun!

Oof... this is a little late. It's been... a day.

Anyway! Keeping with Light Casts a Shadow...

I know that it's already a very overdone plot, but that's never really stopped me before. Because everyone has their own unique take. I'm almost done with chapter 3, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. I love the idea of Alina and the Darkling just sitting down to discuss it with this constant tension in the room because neither knows what the other will do.

I'm also planning on adding in a lot of themes and conversations that were in the books but taken from the show... like a certain fight with Mal. (I mean, bless the show for making him a MUCH better character, but I kinda liked that conflict in there and it works for the plot). There's also quite a few lines that I adore and want to either add in or recontextualise. 'I'll make sure you hear it when I make her scream'.

And I know that a lot of the other fics like this now that the show is out are still pretty new and not up to the part where things are fully defined, but I find that a lot of the older plot have Alina go much darker, and Aleksander staying more or less as he is. I am a sucker for light/dark dynamics and making them meet somewhere in the middle. I just adore the idea of them rationally bargaining, but then in the moment - especially in desperation - making a choice the other would want them to anyway.

My thoughts on the actual writing process so far... I think I wrote the first few chapters in a week. The third chapter is taking a little longer, but this is still the most writing I've done in a long while. I'm really happy with it!
