with the current limited trans rep it's hard to realize you're trans when you don't identify with the narrative of realizing you're trans because "all the other girls/boys were obsessed with "girl/boy things" while i was obsessed with ""opposite gender"" things". you can experience gender in your own nuanced individual way, and it doesn't have to relate to anyone, or any other gender. as my cis gf put it, she is a woman simply because she feels like a woman. i am a man because i feel like a man. not because i felt ostracized from my girl friends when i was younger.
