For #ThoughtulThursday (apparently a thing) I wanted to open up a discord on what the outdoors means to you. I wrote a quick little piece for my blog about #solitude whether in the city or wild (bitly.com/2wNjRd9) after feeling more optimistic due to exploring new spaces. I’m running the #LondonMarathon for @outwardbounduk who offer everyone - kids + adults - the chance to explore a new wild space, but I wondered whether like me you’re happy to explore urban environments to receive the same feeling of contented solitude as the ‘wilderness’ can bring? Today my body is feeling stressed + I know all that will calm it down is a gym session later, so for today that is my safe zone. But yesterday I went along to an @adventurequeensuk social + pushed away from my safe zone. Even if you’re not commenting, take a moment to think about where it is you feel comfortable + if there’s a place you could go to that pushes your familiarity just a touch; how you’d feel visiting there + contrastingly how you’d feel not going there. Perhaps you could push your boundaries? My MA work was about #senseofplace + #familiarity of environments, how they affect our wellbeing, so it’s all very interesting to me. ••• #getoutside #getoutdoors #outwardboundtrust #solitude #urbanliving #huntforthewilderpeople #lakedistrict #alonetime https://www.instagram.com/p/BnYmmJbAZNX/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=28u8fn0xjwze
