Pull up a chair
Opportunity is everywhere. Sometimes it is far away, something we have to chase. But often it is closer than we think. It is in the conversation nearby, the room we are already in, the group we notice but do not join, the opening that is present before we have fully convinced ourselves we belong there. And that is where we can get in our own way. If we put too harsh a filter on what we see around us, we step back. We wait. We wonder if we were invited, if we are ready, if it is our place to enter. And while we wait, the opportunity keeps moving. Maybe we need to think differently about opportunity. Maybe it is not always something that arrives with a formal invitation. Maybe sometimes it is something we step into. We see the group. We hear the conversation. We feel the energy. And instead of holding back, we pull up a chair. There is something powerful about that. Not forced. Not arrogant. Just open. Willing. Curious. Present. It says, I am here. I want to learn. I want to contribute. I want to be part of what is happening. And more often than we think, the table welcomes us. We just have to believe enough to move closer. So let’s look for openings today. Let’s notice the conversations, the possibilities, the people, the rooms, the tables where something good might happen. And when we see one, let’s not stand off to the side. Let’s pull up a chair.
Loving life because I have a chair
