cursing under his breath, jacen shifts to hide the now deactivated lightsaber hilt. the last thing he needs is for some stranger to pry into why he has a lightsaber. and he absolutely does not need them point out that he managed to injure himself with it. jacen is seriously starting to doubt the idea that he should learn how to use that thing.

“uh - it’s really not a big deal.” jacen insists as he sits up to take a closer look at the wound on his leg. it’s not quite the same as any other wound he’s ever had, but it kriffing hurts. “really. it’s just a scratch.”

the night sisters aren’t always predictable beings. in fact, they can get quite reckless from time to time, as far as rix’s experience tells him. but they’re also highly skilled in the arts of dark magic, the kind that can be useful in an unknown galaxy. and to have one of them working towards his cause... well, it would definitely help.

the statement is a surprise to say the least, and jacen knows it shows on his face the moment she says it. he and merrin hardly know each other. the nightsister doesn’t even know his name, only knowing him as dume. what could possibly make her think he’s running away?

“i don’t.” he answers simply, shaking his head. “when have you ever seen me run away from anything? you’ve only met me once before.”
