it wasn’t hard to find her at the celebrations. while he’s not sure why she’s here, kuruk’s pleased. not only because it means he’s not here entirely on his own, but because.. it’s time. it’s been coming for quite a while now. aiya’s paranoid suspicions, kylo’s slight challenge, tyr’s reaction to the.. the news of their untimely deaths. kuruk’s place is not with the knights, not anymore. besides, he’d sworn to zannah he would prove his dedication, his loyalty. and kuruk is a man of his word.
“i’m not sure i expected to see you celebrating.” kuruk says quietly as he steps up beside her. he has no doubt zannah could sense his approach, no doubt he’s not adept enough to surprise her yet. no matter - there’s time now, time to grow his skills, time to train properly. there’s no more he can gain from hiding amongst the knight’s ranks. “it’s time. this event, everything that’s coming -" letting out a breath, kuruk shakes his head. “no, none of that matters. there’s no more to gain from staying with them. i’m ready.”
