Channeling the proto-punk fury of The Nixe, The Mob and The Slits, Foreign Mothers are a trio of Austin, Texas gals attempting a new take on angular rock ‘n’ roll. “Possessive/Plural” a standout track from the group’s new record DUH shows the band shining through a veil of darkness with a lumbering bass reminiscent of ESG, jaunting James Chance-ian guitars and high-hat disco beats. Released on vinyl courtesy of Thread Pull Records on July 16, the music of DUH is ramshackle, but in the preferable way. Think more Teenage Jesus and the Jerks than Crass.
